Robert "Bob" Emerick

Nov 13, 1944 – Oct 7, 2014

Racine – Robert Keith Emerick, age 69, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, in his sleep on Tuesday, October 7, 2014.

Bob was born in South Bend, Indiana on November 13, 1944 to the late Jack C. and Erma E. (nee: Radics) Emerick. He graduated from Washington High School – South Bend in 1963 and went on to attend Purdue University. On August 10, 1968 in St. Stephen’s Catholic Church – South Bend, Bob was united in marriage with the love of his life, Patricia Lynn (nee: Hunter) Emerick.

With a profound Christian faith, Bob was a proud member of First Evangelical Free Church. He was employed with Western Publishing – when the company transferred him to Racine in 1979. Years later, he became employed as a Senior Systems Analyst at In-Sink-Erator. In his earlier years, he was dedicated to his service with the Boy Scouts of America, serving as Scout Master of Troop #222, Camp Master at Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta, and received the Award of Merit for his service on many committees and councils.

Bob was an all-around sports enthusiast. Being born and raised in South Bend, he was a lifetime Notre Dame fan. Very seldom did Bob miss a football, baseball or basketball game on TV – especially if the Fighting Irish, Cubs or Bears were playing. Bob was an avid fisherman, a tradition that was started with his father and carried on with many family members and friends. Bob also enjoyed aquasize classes at the YMCA & Razor Sharp. Above all, Bob loved and cherished being in the surroundings of his entire family – including his church family.

Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years, Pat; their children, David (Rachel) Emerick of Racine and Darlyne (Jeffrey) Holle of Belgium, WI; grandchildren, John & Jamie Miller and Shannon & Cameron Holle; brothers, Richard (Teri) Emerick and Jack (Gail Lukasiewicz) Emerick; sisters-in-law, Debra Hunter & Cherie (Barry) Toth; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Randall Emerick; sister-in-law, Candy Jurgenson; brother-in-law, David Newall; and by Pat’s parents, Chester and Darlyne Hunter.

A Memorial Service celebrating Bob’s life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Pastor John Bodnar officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 11am – 1 pm. In memory of Bob, memorials to First Evangelical Free Church have been suggested.

We enjoyed Bob’s humor and stories for so many years. I can hear his chuckle when he would tell cooking stories and Boy Scout events. He will be sorely missed. Our prayers are with Patrician and her family and close friends.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

My family and I would like to thank you and your staff for all the kindness and sincere expressions of sympathy that you extended to us during the loss of my son, Todd Swanson. We appreciate all the extra special things you did to help us through this very difficult time. We didn’t have to think ahead, we just had to be there while every little detail was taken care of by you and your staff. This made an impression on everyone that came, and I will never forget it. Thank you from all of us.
