Doris Mae DeRosier

Sep 19, 1923 – Dec 14, 2014

RACINE – Doris Mae DeRosier, 91, passed away peacefully at Ridgewood Care Center on December 14, 2014. 

    She was born Doris Mae Ledger on September 19, 1923, in Racine to Frank and Mabel (Fisher) Ledger.  On June 22, 1946 she was married to Leroy DeRosier in St. Rose Catholic Church.

   Doris worked in Nursing for 25 years for All-Saints Hospital.  She was a kind, nurturing and caring person who put others before herself.  She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed reading, traveling with her husband and taking weekend camping trips which always included the family dog. 

   Doris is survived by her children, David (Sandy) DeRosier of Racine, and Karen (David) Tuinstra of Neshkoro, WI.   Grandchildren, Dr. Robbyn (Edward) Tuinstra-Kopp of Brookfield, Rebecca (Timothy) Sabourin of Milwaukee, Nicholas Tuinstra of Berlin, Jeffery (Candi) DeRosier of Sheboygan and Michelle DeRosier of Racine.  Great-grandchildren, Genevieve and Madeleine Kopp, Hannah and Rhys Sabourin, and Ralane Tuinstra.  She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Shawn (Wanda) Flanigan, of Appleton, Robin (Eric) Newcomb of Sheboygan, Dan (Cindy) Flanigan of Columbia, S.C. and Kelly Cook, who has always been there for Doris.  She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy, sister-in-law Lorraine DeRosier, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Charles Kelley and brother and sister-in-law, Loren and Kathy Ledger.

   Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Edward Catholic (15th St. and Grove Ave) on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. for the celebration of Mrs. DeRosier’s life and funeral Mass with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating.  There will be a visitation in the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.   Her interment will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery.
