Surrounded by the love of her family, Barbara M. Godlewski passed away at United Hospital System – Kenosha on January 31, 2015. She was 76 years old. Barbara was born in Netta Druga, Borsuka, Poland on January 1, 1939, the daughter of the late Zygmunt and Czeslawa Kowaleski. She was married in Czestochowa, Poland on July 24, 1957 to George T. Godlewski.  In 1966, she moved to Racine and worked at St Luke's Hospital, but eventually left to become a full-time homemaker.

Barbara was very proud of her Polish heritage, and was affectionately known as the "Egg Lady" due to her talent in the folk art of Pisanki.  She demonstrated her egg art at Polish Fest in Milwaukee annually and at other cultural fairs, and also taught her craft to others.  Barbara kept honeybees and raised chickens and ducks, using the beeswax and eggs for her artwork. She was a member of Polanki – the Polish Women's Cultural Club of Milwaukee; the Polish Heritage Alliance; and, as president of the Polish National Alliance, Local Lodge #1939, organized a Polish Heritage Picnic each August. In her spare time she enjoyed growing flowers, gardening, sewing, and baking her special treats for others. Above all, she loved being with her family.

Barbara is survived by her husband, George Godlewski of Kenosha; son, Maciej (Christine Nielsen) of Mt. Pleasant; daughters, Margaret (Paul) Wadzinske of Brookfield and Mary Ann (Dennis) Brodjeski of Pleasant Prairie; son-in-law, Todd Giese of Kenosha; grandchildren, Michael Giese, Melissa (Mike) Briggs, Monica (John) Prochniak, Marcus (Carlee Wilson) Godlewski, Jacob, Alena and Craig Wadzinske, Blake and Gideon Brodjeski; great-grandchildren, Savanna, Samantha, and Landen Briggs; sisters, Wanda Osewski and Krystyna Walicka, both in Poland; cousins, Helen and Bill Dombrowski and Jean Brehm of Racine; as well as many other relatives and friends here and in Poland.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Bogdan Godlewski; daughter, Barbara Giese; grandson, Vaughn Brodjeski; and cousin, Jack Brehm, and family in Poland.

The funeral Mass for Barbara will be held in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church (2224 45th Street) at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday February 7, 2015 with Rev. Stephen Malkiewicz, OFM, officiating.  Interment will follow at St Casimir's Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the funeral home only on Friday evening from 5 p.m. To 7 p.m. Memorials to Polanki (www.polanki.org), or Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church have been suggested.

Barbara's family would like to publicly thank Dr. Howard Short and Dr. David Zablotney for their many years of kind, compassionate, and skilled care.
