Michael A. Krueger

Aug 9, 1963 – Jul 30, 2015

Michael A. Krueger, 51, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 30, 2015. He was born in Kenosha on August 9, 1963; the son of the late Dennis and Carol (nee: Romano) Krueger.

Michael graduated from Tremper High School and later attended the University of Miami for music performance. On September 8, 1984, he was married to Wendy Nelson in Kenosha. A talented musician, he played double bass with both the Kenosha and Racine Symphony Orchestras, and bass guitar with a number of groups. He was enthusiastic about all forms of art and enjoyed painting, writing, and creating three-dimensional pieces as well. Michael was employed by Johnson Bank for many years and was most recently employed by Southport Bank. Passionate about giving back to his community, Michael was an active member of the Optimist Club of Kenosha for many years, a founding board member for the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha, and involved in a number of other organizations.
Surviving are his wife, Wendy; their children, Emily Krueger (Ben Johnson), of Chicago, Joshua Krueger, of Milwaukee, Madeline and Jeremy Krueger both at home; sisters, Nicholle, Danielle, Jennifer, and Tarin; and brother-in-law Jeffrey (Eleanor) Nelson. His nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive him. He is preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents Herbert and Louise Krueger and Tony and Lee-Lee Romano.

A gathering of friends and family to honor Michael will be held in the Casa Capri Restaurant, 2129 Birch Rd., Kenosha, on Wednesday, August 5th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations in his name to the Arts Programs at the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha. Michael was the kindest most genuine man and boss I ever had. He always had time to talk, fairness was his goal and he made such a difference at JFG. I cannot believe he is gone. I consider MK (as I called him) to be BRILLIANT in mind, kind in heart and always made the work day brighter. You will be missed MK by many!

What a tragedy! My deepest condolences to Karen, their kids, Mike’s siblings and others in the extended family. Mike’s zest for life and for the celebration of life through music and the arts were truly phenomenal, and the broader fine arts communities which he served were enriched by his talent and his enthusiasm. I feel blessed to have known Mike and will miss him.

When someone we love so dearly goes home to be with the Lord, we know they’re in a better place but our sorrow and pain is still great. Praying that the Lord will hold you all especially close and comfort you through the coming days, and that you’ll be strengthened by the love of family and friends. With heartfelt sympathy and prayers.

I have fond memories of “jamming” and working on music with Mike, Jim and Bob. We played at an “open mike” together and it was one of those experiences I will never forget. Mike was so much fun in those sessions and I learned that he had generously given his time and resources to help our school programs in Kenosha as well. He share some of his art and dreams with us. His creativity was inspiring and his gentle and sensitive spirit as well as his humor and talent will not be forgotten. My sincere sympathy for his family and loved ones.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Mike,
Words cannot adequately convey our gratitude for all you did to honor our family member and friend, Mert Fleury. Like with her husband Ray, years ago, you and your staff went above and beyond to help us through this difficult time and to give Mert a wonderful celebration of her life. Every detail was considered, all of our requests were given unfailing attention, and the little extras took our breath away. Every sad feeling and every tear was matched two-fold with feelings of gratitude and comfort because of what you did. We will be forever grateful!
The Fleury Family

David Fleury
