Betty V. Patzke

Jun 19, 1924 – Aug 22, 2015

Racine – Betty V. Patzke, 91, received the promise of eternal life on Saturday, August 22, 2015.  She was born in Glenview, Illinois, on June 19, 1924, daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (nee: Stanke) Bauer.

Betty was united in marriage to the love of her life, Wallace A. Patzke, Sr., on October 12, 1946, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Racine.

Betty worked for Oster where she met Wallace, and then Multi Products until her retirement in 1999. She and Wallace have been long time members of Emmanuel Lutheran Church with exception of the eight years they lived in Florida where she enjoyed the sun, beach and got involved in ceramics. Betty loved to do plastic canvas needlepoint. She won many awards for her work at the county fair.  Betty also enjoyed knitting and reading.  She liked watching golf on TV and also had fun playing Wii Bowling.  She even had two 300 games during her late 80’s.  Betty loved her family dearly and enjoyed keeping up with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren on FaceTime.  She will be dearly missed.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of over 68 years, Wallace Patzke, Sr. of Racine; children, Wallace (Beth Moore) Patzke, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Richard (Bonnie) Patzke of Apple Valley, MN, Sandra (Lee) Bulgrin of Franksville; five grandchildren, Beth (Donald) Gibson of Jacksonville, FL, Jessica Heried of Oak Creek, Jeffrey (Elise) Patzke of Kasson, MN, Jennifer (Orrin) Stearns of Green Bay, Martin Patzke of St. Paul, MN; five great-grandchildren, Ashley Anne, John, Zoe, Kingston, Theodore; sisters and brothers, Virginia McCabe, Francis Smetana, Joseph (Dolly) Bauer, James (Pam) Bauer, Charlotte Zboril, Charles (Jan) Bauer, Eugene (Debbie) Bauer; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded by her brothers, Robert Bauer, Don Bauer; daughter-in-law, Mary Patzke; brother-in-law, Don Patzke, Eugene Patzke, and David Patzke, Sr.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, 11:00am, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 725 High Street.  Visitation will be from 9:00am until the time of the service.  Private entombment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park.  The family has suggested memorials to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

The family would like to extend a heart-felt “Thank You” to Betty’s caregivers, Alnita Johnson, Tina Smith, Linda Vanderhoef, and Nicole Vanderhoef.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

After the passing of our loved one, the time came to make the arrangements for his funeral and we couldn’t have asked for anyone more kind and caring as Mark was. He picked up on all the little details and things we held close to our hearts and made the celebration of this wonderful man’s life very special. Even playing taps along with the honor guard, Mark we can’t thank you enough…our heartfelt thanks go out to you and the staff.
Sincerely, THE GENE GRABHER FAMILY

Linda
