Marion Arlene Andersen

Jun 14, 1925 – Nov 20, 2015

Mt. Pleasant – Marion A. Andersen, 90, passed away at her residence on Friday, November 20, 2015. She was born in Racine on June 14, 1925, the daughter of the late Walter and Lena (nee: Johnson) Mathiesen.  Marion was a 1943 graduate of Park High School. She was married on June 18, 1943 in our Savior’s Lutheran Church to Dr. Chester W. Andersen.

In her early years Marion worked at the J.I. Case Company in the airplane wing division, and later worked in the offices of S.C. Johnson Wax. Marion devoted most of her life to caring for her family.  She enjoyed playing golf and bridge, reading, square dancing, and spending winters in Texas.

She is survived by her dear husband, Chet;  her children: David (Denise)  Andersen  in Colorado,  Jerry ( Terry)  Andersen  of Racine, Glenn ( Beverly)  Andersen  of Hartford,  and Cindi (Randy)  Due  of Racine;  grandchildren: Carli (David) Gray, Tami (Jeff Yager) Jacobson, Jacob  (Jessica) Andersen, Nicholas Andersen, Michael Andersen.  Jason (Melissa) Baumeister, and Jennie (Scott) Matrise; Nine great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Russell (Mary) Mathiesen and Lawrence (Martha) Mathiesen.

Funeral services will be held at Atonement Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 27, 2015 with Rev. Dr. Warren Williams officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will begin in the church at 10 a.m. Donations to Atonement Lutheran Church in Marion's memory have been suggested.
