Annie Will Person

Mar 6, 1931 – Apr 27, 2016

Annie W. Person, 85, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016.  She was born on March 6, 1931 in Columbus, MS to Lizzie B. Lewis and Hunter Williams.

She married Elbert L. Person on May 15, 1947.  Their union was blessed with six children.  She was a devoted, loving, caring and family-oriented mother, sister, grandmother of 22, great-grandmother of 36, and great-great-grandmother of 6.

She enjoyed being with her family.  Her passions were gardening and fishing.  At age 85, she enjoyed her independence.

She loved wearing hats and owned a variety of them.  She also liked talking on the phone.  You will never get a goodbye, but would usually get a “God Bless.”  When you tell her “I Love You”, she would say “I Love You More” or “Back At You.”  We will miss her jaw-jerking and lip flapping, as she would say.  She always had to have the last word.  We will especially miss her reciting bible verses and saying “Praise God, This Old Lady Is Doing Fine”.

Mom, you will be truly missed.  Your wisdom, kindness and love will never be forgotten.  Your motherly “Baby” sayings and “I don’t get involved in my children’s decisions” are just a few things you would say.”   Love Your Children

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert L. Person, mother, Lizzie B. Alexander, father, Hunter Williams, sister, Ida Mae Lewis, brother, Mosezel (Mattie) Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memory:  her loving brother, William Rogers, Washington, D.C., her children, Margie (Lawrence) Hood, Elbert Jr., Milwaukee, WI, Johnny (Desire'), Milwaukee, WI, Tyrone, Carol (Leroy) Williams, Cornell, Racine, WI, her special best friend, Rose Turner, Mississippi, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend a heart-felt "Thank You" to the staff of Wheaton Franciscan Hospice Care in Racine, WI.

A memorial will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016, 5:00pm until 7:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Rd, Racine, WI  53403.

Ann was our neighbor forever. She was there when all 5 of us were born. She was a great friend to my parents especially my mother, Mellie Concentine. She is the reason that I love to eat beets to this day! To the family: “With deepest sympathy, may those beautiful memories of yesterday always remain in your heart and your sorrow gently fade away.” God Bless you all.
