Racine – Carol Jean Green, age 65, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 19, 2016 following a two-year battle with cancer.
A lifetime resident of Racine, Carol was born on December 20, 1950 to the late Leonard and Lillian (nee: Anderson) Wosyk. She graduated from Washington Park High School in 1969. On October 22, 1977 in Atonement Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage with George Douglas Green.
Carol enjoyed her job at JI Case High School in the attendance office. She was a lifelong member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Carol was forever planning & hosting parties and was known to “overfeed” her family & friends.
Surviving are her loving husband, Doug; their children, Stephanie (Scott) Naegeli and Beth (Cameron) Peterson; grandchildren, Andrew, Emma & Ian Naegeli; Matthew & Maci Peterson; sister, Sharon Dresen; brother, John Wosyk; special niece who was “like a third daughter”, Julie Mazurkiewicz; brother-in-law, Robert Green; special card playing cousins, Jerry & Judy Madsen; other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends – too numerous to mention all by name.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Barbara (Earl) Hartzheim and Mary Green, and brother-in-law, Al Dresen.
Funeral services will be held at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 2417 Drexel Avenue, on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 11:00 am with Rev. Sue Ruehle officiating. A memorial luncheon will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm and in the church on Tuesday from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lutheran Church of the Redeemer or to the American Cancer Society have been suggested.
A special note of thanks to Dr. Shayan Rayani and the staff of Wheaton Franciscan Cancer Center & Hospice for the compassionate care and support; and to Walgreen’s Pharmacy (Lathrop & Durand) for going above and beyond in Carol’s time of need. May God bless all of you!

I will always have wonderful memories of Carol going back to 1962, singing for her wedding to Doug, giving her a baby shower before her 1st daughter was born, being Godmother to Beth, playing cards while there was a blizzard outside and many more until I moved to Florida in 1998. I’m sorry I can’t be there but your entire family has my sympathy. Hold on to the good times and laughs you had with Carol and talk of them often. It helps to ease the grief. God Bless you Doug and family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Oh, Carol. My Junior High friend! Remember band with Mr. Wynstra?? Brown’s Lake and riding the horses? Then there were those ‘grasshoppers’ we made when your mom was gone. I am sorry Life took us in different directions, but in my mind’s eye, you will always be 14 years old!

My sincere sympathy to Carol’s family. Whenever I talked with her at Case High I got a definite message of how proud she was of her family. My heart aches with you. She was a kind friendly person. May happy memories and faith help sustain you through this difficult time.

Doug and family,
Richard and I are sadden to hear about the passing of Carol. We met as young couples in the Bahamas almost forty years ago and for the past forty years, Carol and I have corresponded at Christmas with our yearly cards, updates and pictures. Funny thing how a chance meeting turned into a friendship all these years. Although we never spoke or saw each other after the Bahamas, those Christmas greetings kept us connected. I always felt very close to her. She was a wonderful woman who had a deep devotion to her family. Thank you for letting us be a part of your lives all these years. You are in our thoughts and prayers. You are now with the Lord Carol. Rest in peace my friend.
