Racine – Janice Elaine Pozel, 78, received the promise of eternal life on Thursday, August 18, 2016. She was born in Mauston, WI, on September 8, 1937, daughter of Raymond Richard Footit and Betty Pearl (nee: Clark) Footit.
Janice graduated from Mauston High School in 1955. She received her nursing degree from Gateway Technical College in 1983. Janice was an RN at Ridgewood Care Center and also at Southern Wisconsin Center before her retirement.
Janice had a special place in her heart for children that lead her to devote her time as a girl scout leader, Sunday school teacher, AWANA leader, and member of the PTA over the years. Janice held strong to her Baptist roots throughout her life and believed strongly in the Bible. She spent time in the word regularly throughout her life. Janice loved her family tremendously, especially when she was able to dote on her grandchildren. Her family made sure she stayed involved with family events even after she was no longer able to get around on her own. Janice was loved deeply by her family and will be dearly missed.
Janice leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Dan (Sherry) Pozel; daughter, Karen (Tom) Hendrickson; grandchildren, Tricia, Jessica, Tommy (Inger), Nicole, Mary, Dan (Corrine), Matt (Kristin), Orlando, Ashley, Alyssa, Trevor; great-grandchildren, Lia, Anthony, Adrina, Carly, Garrick, Ella, Lilly; mother, Betty Footit; sisters, Sharon (Sonny) Nemitz; Floy Lyn Calogero; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.
Janice is preceded in death by her father, Raymond Footit; and brother, Raymond Richard “Dick” (Patricia) Footit.
A celebration of Janice’s life will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016, 1:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road. Visitation will be from 11:00am until the time of the service.
The family would like to extend a heart-felt “Thank You” to the staff at Ridgewood Care Center and the staff at Hospice Alliance for the love and care given to Janice during this difficult time.

Right now I know you are looking down at all of us with a big smile standing by your dad , Ray Jr. and my dad. To bad we lived so far apart and did not have the chance to grow up together. My dad always talked about uncle Ray and how he always watched out for him. That’s what family life was back then, they lived in special times than. Because of health issues I can not travel to far so I will be thinking and praying for all. I know God will be watching over all of you. Love and God Bless Forever , Thomas Footit and Family.

To the children of “Nan” My sincere condolences to you for the loss of your mother. Her dad and my dad were brothers and the last of 15 children to pass away. Your mother was the only nice and caring person of all her siblings. At our Aunt Della’s funeral in Plainfield she sat right down by my dad and I and ate her lunch and I am glad I had that time with her. I know in my heart your mother would have attended my fathers (or acknowledged it at least) funeral if she wouldn’t have been hurt. She was never “Too Good” for anybody and had a kind heart. She is now in heaven and reunited with our FOOTIT family. God bless her and may she rest in peace. Luv to you Nan——–Nancy Footit Chesbro
