MOUNT PLEASANT – Mr. Grady E. Grice, 90, passed away at WFH – All Saints on Monday, August 22, 2016.

He was born in Detroit, MI on October 10, 1925, the son of the late E. Grady and Elma (née Watson) Grice.   His mother passed away after the birth of his sister Jeanette.

Mr. Grice proudly served his nation as a communications specialist with the US Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during WWII and during the Korean War, rising to the rank of Sargent. He recently participated in the Honor Flight with his son Dan as guardian.   He was active with the local VFW and Marine Corps League.

On April 26, 1952, he married Lorraine Budzinski.  She preceded him in death on May 17, 2010.

Mr. Grice began his career as an iron worker and he completed the riveting of the upper arch during the construction of the Milwaukee Arena.  Later as a tool and die maker by trade he worked for various companies in his earlier years.  He retired from Badger Tools after 25 years of service.

Mr. Grice was passionate about how local government governed.  Whether he ran for school board or wrote letters to the editor, he did not hesitate to have his voice heard.  He enjoyed his quiet time woodworking, golfing and sailing.  He was an active member of the Racine Yacht Club for many years.  Mr. Grice and his wife were long time members of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and most recently St. Paul the Apostle.

He is survived by his sons, Steve W.  (Karen) Grice of Camas, WA, Kevin J. (Gerard Bertolino) Grice of Houston, TX and Daniel G. (Cindy Riley-Grice) Grice of Kenosha, WI; his grandchildren, Katherine Grice of Camas, WA; step-grandchildren  Sarah (Dan) Robinson of Caledonia, WI and Matt Riley of Middleton, WI; his step-great grandchildren, Delany, Dane and Oliver Robinson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.   Mr. Grice was preceded in death by his step-mother, Viola Grice; his daughter-in-law, Diane (née Banks) Grice and his sister, Jeanette (Thomas) MacIntyre.

Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church (6400 Spring Street Racine) on Monday, August 29, 2016 for a visitation from 9:30-11 a.m.   A Mass celebrating his life will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
