Racine – Leslie Alonzo Griffith, 89, received the promise of eternal life on Monday, September 12, 2016. He was born in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on August 5, 1927, son of the late Gordon and Helen (nee: Taylor) Griffith.

Leslie worked as a Senior Retail Sales Representative for the Shell Oil Company for forty years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Greater Grace Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Racine.

Leslie is survived by his daughter, Yvette Stewart (Griffith); son-in-law, Jeffery Stewart, both of Racine; son, Lincoln Griffith; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Griffith (Russell), both of Lehigh Acres, FL; son, Hugh Griffith; daughter-in-law, Lucita Griffith (Hernandez), both of Racine; son, Wayne Griffith of Lehigh Acres, FL; son, Kyle Griffith; daughter-in-law, Ayana Griffith (Villafana), both of Hollis, NY; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Pedro Griffith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Leslie is preceded in death by his sister, Nora Harewood; brother, Cecil Clarke; and sister, Marjorie Hunte (Griffith), all of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

A celebration of Leslie’s life and homegoing will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016, 11:00am, at Greater Grace Temple C.O.G.I.C., 522 N. Memorial Drive, with Rev. Jettie L. Cornett officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30am until the time of the service. According to Leslie’s wishes, interment will take place in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
