Racine – Amelia Guzman Espinoza, age 90, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 following a long struggle with cancer.

Amelia was born in San Antonio, TX on September 12, 1926 to the late Juan and Josephina (nee: Garcia) Guzman. On April 8, 1942, she was united in marriage with Joe C. Espinoza, who preceded her in death on March 6, 2016.

Amelia was employed by Goldblatt’s in the early 1970’s where she met her best friend, Ava Rossi. Amelia grew beautiful roses in her garden of which were greatly admired by all of neighbors and was a fabulous cook – especially known for her scrumptious made from scratch tortillas. Above all, she loved spending time with her entire family – especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Elvira (Alberto) Rodriguez, Rosemary (Daniel) Avila, Rebecca Flores, Mary Lou Espinoza, Joe Espinoza Jr., Pete (Sara) Espinoza and Robert Espinoza; many adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren – too numerous to mention by name.

In addition to her parents and husband, Amelia was preceded in death by her sons, Herman G. Espinoza, Marcus G. Espinoza and Johnny G. Espinoza; and grandson, Herman “Rocky“ Espinoza, Jr.

Funeral services will be held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Antony Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm.

A special note of thanks to the Doctors and nurses at Ascension All Saints Cancer Center for the compassionate care and support given in Amelia’s time of need. May God bless all of you!
