Bishop Arturo M. Aviles Sr., 74, passed away at All Saints Hospital on April 4, 2017. He was born in Cotulla, Texas on March 25, 1943, son of the late Patricio Aviles and Manuela Moya. He was married on January 24, 1963 to Mary H. Rangel in San Antonio Texas. He has been an area resident for most of his life.

Β Arturo spent 27 years at US Can Company where he worked as an assembler until the plant closed in 1998. It was shortly afterwards that Christ called him to mission work, and ultimately to become the pastor at the Kenosha Church of God. He enjoyed spending time with his family; especially the holidays with his grandchildren, and watching Packer games with his sons. Arturo was also a talented musician who loved to sing, and play the bass and drums in the Sammy Avila y Los Latinos Band, and in his church.

Β Arturo is survived by his loving wife Mary Aviles of Kenosha; and his proud sons Arturo Aviles Jr. of Racine, and John Aviles of Kenosha; 11 grandchildren, David Aviles, Tony White, Richard Carbajal, Anthony (Rosemary) Aviles, Thomas Aviles, Alex Aviles, Amber Aviles, Angel Aviles, Amanda (Marc) Santiago, Ericka Perez, and Elysia Perez; 11 great-grandchildren (and anxiously awaiting the 12th); as well as many other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Dora Linda Perez.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Monday April 10, 2017, with General Overseer Bishop Alexander Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation in the funeral home will begin at 10 a.m.

I remember as a child coming to church on Villa St. in Racine and hearing Bro. Aviles play the bass guitar and sing “I love my Jesus”. Him and Sis. Aviles had such a dramatic impact on my life. A dedicated and faithful servant who was not ashamed to tell anyone of where God had brought him from. I will definitely miss him! Praying for all of his family, especially Sis. Aviles.

Brian & Staff – My family and I cannot thank you enough for the loving support you’ve given to us during this difficult time. You really took the time to get to us know us and mom, and it was truly shown in the details. Mom looked amazing and every detail regarding her arrangements were so heartfelt, it meant the world to us. We are so thankful you for you and your staff.
