Julie’s Personal Touch

Racine – Dana Garth Ishman, 71, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, April 8, 2017, surrounded by the love of his family.  He was born in Racine on December 8, 1945, son of the late Allen and Catherine (née: Forde) Ishman.

Dana was united in marriage to the former, Donna G. Domokos, on October 1, 1994, at the Wustum Museum in Racine.

Dana graduated from Horlick High School in 1964.  He proudly and faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force for 38 years, retiring from service in 2004.  Dana served courageously in Vietnam and Desert Storm.  Following his military service, he was the Warehouse Manager for Lakeside International until his retirement.  He is a member of the Vietnam Veterans Local 767 as well as VFW Post # 1391.

Dana was a “farmer at heart” living in the city.  He had a passion for tractors, trains, and airplanes.  He was a member of the Illinois Railway Museum, Ford Fordson Collectors Association, and the SE WI Antique Power and Collectibles.  Above all, Dana loved his family dearly and treasured all the time he was able to spend with them.

Dana leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Donna Ishman; daughter, Shelly Palmer; grandsons, Corbin Palmer, Easton Lafreniere; brother, Ronn Ishman; sisters, Cheryl Brown, Pamela (Tim Jones) Ishman, Beth (Bill Urick) Koleske; mother-in-law, Florence Domokos; brothers-in-law, Glenn (Jo) Domokos, Darrell (Lynn) Domokos, Doug (Laurel) Domokos; sister-in-law, Maralee (Vaughn) Groen; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends too numerous to mention.

In addition to his parents, Dana is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Martin Domokos; brother-in-law, Ray Brown; many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of Dana’s life will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017, 11:00am, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Pastor Doug Domokos officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:00am until the time of the service.  Burial with full military honors will follow at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.

The family would like to extend a heart-felt “Thank You” to Dr. Michael Mullane and his staff, as well as the Aurora Home Hospice staff for the care given to Dana during this difficult time.

Dana was a true friend and caring co-worker. He always went out of his way to make sure everyone around him was happy, and he always had a story to tell. He had a passion for his hobbies, his work, and his life. He will be deeply missed, and my condolences go out to his family members as they go forward without his smiling face.

I served in the Air Force Reserves Milwaukee Wisconsin for a few short years. He will be missed. He was a good person overall. God takes the good people and he treats the military veterans a little more special.

Testimonials

February 20, 2019

Mike and his team did a fabulous job with the memorial service for our Mom. It was perfect and he made the process easy for me to go through during such a difficult time. She had chosen the funeral home before hand, and she made the right choice. The service was beautiful, simple, and sweet. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
