Homegoing Celebration: Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:00 am in Second Missionary Baptist Church, 1250 Lathrop Avenue

Viewing: Friday, April 28, 2017 in the church from 9:00 – 11:00 am

Racine – Katrina Latoya Edwards, age 34, passed away at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee on Thursday, April 20, 2017.

Katrina was born in Racine to Charles and Altoria (nee: Knuckles) Edwards, Jr. She attended Goodland Elementary, McKinley Junior High, and graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 2001”. Katrina went on to graduate with a Communications degree from University of Wisconsin – Parkside. She earned her Master’s Degree in Higher Education from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale in 2008. Shortly after, she moved to the East Coast to accept a position with the University of Maryland.

Katrina was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church and of Delta Sigma Theta. She enjoyed traveling, concerts, music and was an avid reader. Katrina had a big-beautiful smile and was truly a people person who loved helping those in need.

Surviving are her parents, Charles & Altoria Edwards, Jr.; brother, Charles Edwards III; sister, Felicia Edwards; grandmother, Alberta (nee: Hutchins) Lofton; nephews, Dar’Quice Jamal Edwards and Antonio Lamar Edwards; niece, Desiree Montinique Edwards and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends – too numerous to mention all by name.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:00 am in Second Missionary Baptist Church, 1250 Lathrop Avenue, with Bishop J. Mark Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9:00 – 11:00 am.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Zubin Lathaya and all the nurses and entire staff at Fresenius Medical Clinic of West Allis and Froedtert Hospital for their love and care for Katrina.
