Viewing: in the church on Monday from 9:30 – 11:00 am

Racine – Dorothy Mae Wright, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 22, 2017.

Dorothy was born in Greenville, Mississippi on October 5, 1931 to the late Herbert and Beatrice (nee: Bailey) Catron. In Memphis, TN on December 19, 1953 she was united in marriage to John Wright, who preceded her in death on June 23, 2010.

The family moved to Kenosha in 1957. They remained in Kenosha except for a short stay in Racine from 1969-1977. Dorothy was employed by Chrysler, retiring in 1988. Dorothy was a member of the Church of Christ since 1953. She was happily at her husband’s side as they worked together to establish a Church of Christ congregation in Kenosha. They labored together and the fruit of their labor yielded what is now the 23rd Avenue Church of Christ in Kenosha. She was an active member of that congregation.

Surviving are her children, Gwendolyn (Luther) Byles, Charlotte Wright, Ronald Wright, Michael (Nina) Wright, Beverly (Kenneth) Cozart, Reginald (Charita) Wright, Rosa (William) Langston, Carl (Tania) Wright, Cassandra Wright and John (Natalie) Wright Jr.; brothers, Douglas (Carolyn) Catron and Charles Catron; sister, Theresa Prewitt; 30 grandchildren with twice as many great-grandchildren; and a host of other dear relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank and Clarence Catron.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 11:00 am in Midtown Church of Christ, 1704 13th Street in Racine, with Brother Chuncey Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Green Ridge Cemetery in Kenosha. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 9:30 – 11:00 am.

Dear Wright Family, I am so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. What brings me comfort is the promise found at Revelation 21:4 which speaks of a time of no more sickness and death. May Jehovah the God of comfort, bring your family comfort during this most difficult time in your lives.
