Union Grove – Lloyd F. Mikulecky, 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, April 27, 2017. He was born in Racine on July 10, 1927, son of the late Francis “Frank” and Ruth (nee: Brunson) Mikulecky. Lloyd graduated from Wm. Horlick High School. He then served in the US Navy aboard the USS Maryland from 1945 – 1947. On April 23, 1949, he was united in holy matrimony to Lillian Julia Molnar in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, recently celebrating 68 years together. Lloyd began serving as a firefighter in the City of Racine in 1960, retiring as a Captain in 1988. He enjoyed gardening, tending his rose bushes, hunting, fishing, and making frequent trips to Door County and Florida with his wife Lillian. Lloyd also enjoyed meeting his buddies, fellow retired firefighters, on Monday mornings for coffee. More than anything, however, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Lillian Mikulecky; children: Janice (Brian) Nelson of Mt. Pleasant, JoAnn Anderson of Mt. Pleasant, Sue (Ron) Eifler of Delafield, Tom (Terry) Mikulecky of Rochester, Robert (Linda) Mikulecky of Mt. Pleasant, and Jim (Shari) Mikulecky of Union Grove; grandchildren: Joel (Nicole) Nelson, Kevin Nelson, Kelli (Chris) Kaminski, Matthew Anderson, Mindy (Mark) Poffenberger, Dr. Aaron Eifler, Evan Eifler, Jared Mikulecky, Jennah (Matthew) Glassen, Angela Mikulecky, Joshua Mikulecky, Lindsey Mikulecky, and Justin Mikulecky; 13 great-grandchildren, with another on the way. He is further survived by his sister Judy Meltzer, brother, Richard Mikulecky, as well as many other relative and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers Tom and Bill Mikulecky, his sisters Frances Spang, Lois Hermanson, and Doris Seal.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jolene from Heartland Hospice Care for her compassionate care during this difficult time.
