William (Bill) Griffin Jr. was called home by his loving Savior on Thursday, June 8th, 2017.  William was born in Macon, MS to Mamie Riley and William Griffin Sr. on October 4th, 1934. After high school William enlisted in the Army and later transferred to the Airforce, where he served in the Korean War. He belonged to the American Legion Post #2930. William retired from J I Case after 35 years, he also worked for Maple Leaf Farms for 5 years. In his spare-time he coached football and basketball for the George Bray Center, he also enjoyed playing darts, shooting pool and enjoyed watching all types of sports.

William is preceded in death by: Mamie Owens-Castor, Roderick Greco, William Griffin Sr., Minor Ross, Dewey Honor, Howard Honor, Ressie Riley-Brewer, Thomas Riley, Willie Riley, John Riley, Richard Riley, William K. Griffin Jr., Jamarion Griffin and Sekia Griffin.

William is survived by: Wife– Carrie Griffin, Brothers– Jimmy(Brenda)Griffin, George Raymond(Marie) Owens, Sisters Sally Griffin, Juanita Griffin, Edna Griffin, Uncles: Artus(Mattie)Riley, Ollie(Anna)Riley, Children: Charlene Patricia Griffin, Cheryl Griffin, William Kelvin(Lisa)Griffin Sr., Regina Hawkins, Gail Duffy, Dwight K. Duffy Sr., Donna Carter, Robert Carter, Cherry(Ray)Griffin, Heline(Dennis)Goodman, Johnny Love Sr., Ellen Lewis Grandchildren: Lashawnda Hampton, Mario Griffin, Dalonte Griffin, Kelvalust Terry, Lamont Griffin, Markus Morris, Heavenly Griffin, Qwan Duffy, Chardikia Duffy, Junis Duffy, Celeste White-Turner, Tomicca Duffy, Dwight K. Family and friends are invited to meet at Wayman AME Church (424 N. Memorial Dr.) at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017 for the celebration of William’s life and Homegoing with Rev. Lawrence Terry officiating.  There will also be a visitation in the church on Friday from 10-11 a.m.

The family of William wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Vista Medical East staff and Vista Medical Hospice Nurses and Wayman A.M.E Church. A special Thanks to Brian from Draeger-Langendorf
