Julie’s Personal Touch

Richard C. Friso, 48, passed away on Friday July 14, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Racine on July 22, 1968, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (nee Willing) Friso. Richard was a member of Park High School Class of 1986, and was employed at In-Sink-Erator for more than 20 years.

Richard loved his motorcycle often referred to as his ‘baby’. He always had to make people smile, laugh, and be happy. Richard loved his cats and was especially close to his “Big Kitty”. He enjoyed drinking coffee and reading Yahoo News and other news outlets in the morning.  He would often say to his family, “Hey, did you see that on Yahoo News?” and share the story he found interesting and worth sharing.  He found joy, relaxation, and peace while swimming in his pool and in the ocean.  It was rare for Richard to keep sleeves on shirts as he cut them off and made his own ‘alterations’ including cutting the ends off pants and named them ‘manpris’. His garage was his place where he spent much of his time. It was a place for him to express himself as he always had a spot for signs and coasters, he painted portions of the wall in orange and teal paintbrush markings, spray painted a storage unit every color imaginable.  Some of the unique items he attached to the garage walls included skateboard, hubcaps from multiple vehicles, street signs, mirrors, pencils, dollar bills from winning games of horseshoes, a commercial paper towel dispenser given to him by his son in law, hand sanitizer dispenser, his daughters incomplete summer art project, gear chains, etc. as there are too many to name.  However his most interesting thing he hung was a chandelier from his mother-in-law, Betty. Everyone who was in the garage with him always asked about the chandelier it was always a conversation starter.  Richard enjoyed drinking Budweiser and smoking Marlboro Reds daily.  He loved the snow and enjoyed being outside sitting at the table in his driveway with his family and friends.  He loved fresh vegetables in the summer, especially tomatoes.  Richard was very skilled with machines and cars as he could identify the source of the issue quickly. He loved and enjoyed playing with children and teaching them new things especially his nieces, Mayella and Isabelle who he called minions and round heads.  He would teach them how to catch lightning bugs, camp in the yard, sat around the fire, etc. and the kids always wanted to go outside by Uncle Rich just to be around him.  He was very proud of his children; his daughter for graduating college and his son for being proactive with his career.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Richard is survived by his wife Vicki Friso of Union Grove; his children Amber (Brett) Epping of Dubuque, Iowa and Richard F. Friso of Union Grove; brothers and sisters: Kim (John) Barnes of Rochester, Donna (Stephen Woodward) Friso of Kansasville, Joe (Conrad Hanstein) Friso of Vista, California, Jon Friso and Tom Friso both of Racine; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Service for Richard will be as unique and casual as he was, so feel free to dress casually and comfortably. All are invited to visit with his family in the funeral home on Thursday July 20, 2017 from 3:00pm until 6:00pm. Memorials to the family are kindly suggested.

My deepest and heartfelt condolences to Richie’s family. This breaks my heart. My best memories of him are him showing up to help my dad install our first above ground pool when I was around 6 years old and throughout my life, because he was friends with my brother, I was lucky enough to have a bond that felt like I as a little sister to him too. He was unique in character and I will miss his wild sense of humor and all of his “bean boiler” stories. Rest in peace Richie, say hi to my brother. Much love to his family, thank you all for sharing him with the rest of us.

We appreciate all the extra special things you did to help us through this very difficult time. We didn’t have to think ahead, we just had to be there while every little detail was taken care of by you and your staff. This made an impression on everyone that came, and I will never forget it.
