Racine – Richard Nathaniel Cole, 74, affectionately known to all as “Dickie”, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017.  He was born in Chicago, IL, on October 1, 1942, son of the late Richard and Valetta (née: Witherspoon) Cole.

Richard was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Teresa Camille McKinley, on October 2, 1965, in Waukegan, IL.

Richard graduated from Park High School in Racine.  Richard was a product maker at S.C. Johnson Wax for 37 years until his retirement in 2002.  Richard was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Sheridan Woods Congregation.  He loved riding his Harley-Davidson.  Richard has taken many trips with his biking buddies to places such as the Black Hills and Canada.  He also loved travelling around the United States with his wife, Teresa.  New Orleans was their favorite place to visit.  Richard was an avid Chicago Bears fan and could be found cheering on his team whenever they were playing.  Above all, Richard loved his family tremendously.  He loved his grandchildren and doted on them every chance that he could.  He will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Richard leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 51 years, Teresa Cole; his son, Christopher (Laura Slotnick) Cole; son Sean (Trish) Cole; their children, Aaron Cole, Cameron Cole; daughter; Gretchen (Eric) Williams; their children, Christopher Williams, Nicholas Williams; son, Darren Cole; his children, Darrion Cole, Jayson Cole, Myles Cole, Maxwell Cole; Darrion’s daughter, Madisyn Cole; aunt, Chesterine McCutcheon; uncles, Northweston (Lois) Witherspoon, Oliver (Gloria) Briggs, Hobart (Elethia) Witherspoon, Polly (Ernest) Howard; mother-in-law, Alma McKinley; sisters-in-law, Machelle (William) Curtis, Janita (Bryan) Finley, Adrienne (Steven) Boykin; brother-in-law, Wilbert (Ruthanne) McKinley, Jr.; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his step-father, Boyd Brazelton; father-in-law, Wilbert McKinley, Sr.; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.

A funeral service for Richard will be held on Monday, September 4, 2017, 11:00am, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road.  Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service.  Interment services will be private at West Lawn Memorial Park.

Dickie had a great sense of humor, often referring to me as his “hip” sister-in-law. I will surely miss his teasing. He was a treasured member of the family and my sincere condolences go out to my sister, niece and nephews.

There is a picture of Dickie and Teresa, Machelle and Me, from 1978, outside a Wisconsin restaurant. We had fun together in New Orleans, The Colorado Mountains, and Mount Rushmore . Less than two weeks ago , Dickie and I went out for a burger, talking all the way there and back. These are the memories that will help live on. He was a good friend of mine and I’m going to miss him.
