Racine – Terrance “Terry” Lee Love, 56, was called to be with the Lord at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. On Wednesday, October 11, 2017, surrounded by his adoring family, Terrance gained his well-deserved heavenly reward leaving a trail of kindness, love, humor, and courage. He was born on August 14, 1961 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Adolphus Hargest and Linda Love. Terrance graduated from Washington Park High School in 1979, and then served his country honorably for four years in the United States Marine Corps, earning the rank of Corporal. As a civilian, Terrance’s career with AMC/Chrysler and Jeep spanned 30 years, working in Kenosha, Wisconsin and Toledo, Ohio until he retired in 2009.

Terrance loved his Savior and trusted in His plan and purpose for his life. He was a godly father who loved his family with all of his heart and was always available for anyone who needed advice, support or just a prayer to see them through their concerns. He cherished his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Pop-Pop”. Terrance enjoyed all people, and never met a stranger who didn’t become a friend. In retirement he enjoyed golfing, working out, traveling, attending jazz music concerts, and was probably the only known vegetarian BBQ pitmaster. Always a lifelong learner, he also became a student at Gateway Tech and was working towards an Associates degree in Human Services. Terrance was an active brother to Kingdom Builders Fellowship, and enjoyed doing outreach and helping with the food pantry program to feed the hungry in the Eastern Wisconsin area.

Terrance is survived by his loving daughters: Lakisha (Walter) Wingard, Jr. of Mentor, Ohio, Nicole Marie Love of Dallas, Texas, and Erma Lee Love of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren: Juliana, Elena, and Walter Wingard, III. of Mentor; his mother Linda Love of Racine  sisters: Teresa Fay Love of Racine, Donna Wilkerson of Phoenix, Arizona, and Felicia (Michael) McArthur of Broomfield, Colorado; former wife Guadalupe P. Love of Columbus; special nephews Diondrae Jenkins and Derrell Love both of Racine; special aunt Sherry Gardner of Menahga, Minnesota; special friends Everett & Liz Montgomery of Racine; Minister Gregory G. Hicks of Milwaukee; and Walter & Julia Wingard of Chesapeake, Virginia; as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Adolphus Hargest.

Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 19, 2017 with Pastor Leon Brown officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00a.m. followed by the funeral service at 12 noon. Please consider a memorial donation to Feeding America of Eastern Wisconsin in the memory of Terrance Love.

Interment and military honors will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Dr. David R. Murray, the heart transplant team, the ICU nurses, and all of the staff at the Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. The comfort and care you gave to us and our father will never be forgotten.

Testimonials

October 9, 2020

I would like to thank Mike Langendorf, Bill Althaus and the rest of the staff for the wonderful celebration of the life for my father Raymond L. Szymanski who was a WWII veteran. I especially appreciate how much you really listen and the questions you asked regarding who my father was and what he was all about. Those details showed up in every part of the service from the flowers, the music, the thank you’s, pictures, obituary, outdoor military honors, etc. etc. My father would have been so grateful for the way you honored his life. I also received phone calls from family and friends indicating how beautiful the service was in every way. You and your staff definitely go above and beyond. You treat everyone like family and your compassion is so genuine. There should be more people in the world just like all of you. No words can express our gratitude for all you have done for myself, my father and our family. Thank you so very much and may the Lord bless you and yours! Sincerely Terri Carls and the Szymanski Family

Theresa Lynn Carls
