RACINE— Surrounded by three generations of family (children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren) in the days leading up to her death, Jacqueline “Dolly” Tapp passed away peacefully at Ascension Hospital in Racine on Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

Dolly was born on May 27, 1936 in Mitchell, South Dakota to Dale and Georgia Williams, the first of six children. She was a graduate of Ethan High School.

On May 23, 1954, Dolly married the love of her life, her “Honey Bunny,” Darwin Tapp. The couple moved to Racine, Wisconsin in 1955.

Dolly worked at various jobs in Racine until her retirement in 2001, including time at Walgreens, Haag’s and other local retail stores, but it was as a mother to four children where she found her most satisfying career.

Dolly made friends easily, had a contagious personality and most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Darwin and Dolly for several years after retirement would journey to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for three months in the winter where they established some wonderful lasting friendships with several couples from the Syracuse, N.Y. area. Dolly was a big fan of race car driver Jeff Gordon and everyone knew of her love for the color purple. She also enjoyed going to Potawatomi.

Her fun, playful spirit will be greatly missed by her husband of 63 years, Darwin; their four children, Jerry (Judith) Tapp, Patricia Rivers, Bob Tapp, and Rhondi (Al) Parys; a brother, Dick (Jan) Williams, two sisters, Darla Jasperson and Gloria Deinert; sister-in-law June Williams; brother-in-law, Terry (Erica) Tapp; seven grandchildren, Liz (John) Surendonk, Rebekah (Erik) Garcia, Elise Rivers, Eric Tapp, Amy Tapp, Phillip Tapp and Emma Tapp; and seven great-grandchildren, Maddy and Jack Surendonk, Elynn, Eli, Easton and Edison Garcia, and Corbin Falbo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Don Williams, sister Barbie Williams, brother-in-law Rudy Jasperson, mother-in-law Martha Tapp, and great-grandchild Emerson Garcia.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home with Rev. Sue Bowen officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 – 11:00 am.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful doctors and nurses who cared for Dolly during her five-year battle with cancer. Among those, a special thank you to Dr. Harker-Murray and her nurse Rena and Dr. Engel and his nurse Heidi, and countless others who cared for her with love and compassion during her illness.

Our life has been blessed being a part of the extended Tapp family. There are no words to express our sorrow knowing we won’t see Dolly’s beautiful smile and infectious laughter again. But what we do know is that her spirit and love is what we will continue to witness in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bless you Darwin and Rest In Peace Dolly.

My family and I would like to thank you and your staff for making our father\’s funeral a beautiful celebration of his life. So many people commented that it was the best funeral they had ever attended! We can\’t say enough about Mark Langendorf\’s professionalism, his attention to detail, and ensuring that my father\’s funeral went smoothly from start to finish. After the funeral, he was always available for any questions and concerns my mother had. He handled all post-funeral details. Our dad would be very happy to know it went so well.Thank you so much, Mark.
