Racine – John Tracy Barrows, Sr.; age 91; was born into eternal life on Saturday, December 30, 2017.
John was born in Stevens Point, WI on November 17, 1926 to Frank and Fanny (nee: Tracy) Barrows. He married his beloved wife, Barbara (nee: Wells), on May 20, 1950 in Green Lake, WI – who preceded him in death on September 22, 2012. John served our country with the US Navy in WWII. He was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church, Kiwanis Club and of the American Legion Post #306-Green Lake. John was employed as manager for Wisconsin Telephone Company for over 39 years from 1946 -1985. Surviving are his children, John Jr. (Cindy), Thomas (Cindy), Debra Schweitzer, Mark (Lisa), Patrick (Chris), William (Wendy) and Mary (Russell) Klingaman; sister, Mary (Jack) Roeder; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Marlene (John) Kaatz; brothers-in-law, Lynn “Butch” Wells and Ed (Linda) Wells; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Adeline Barrows; and sister-in-law, Linda (Krause) Wells.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 11:30 am at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue in Racine, with Rev. Javier Guativa officiating. Visitation in the church on Thursday from 10:30-11:30 am. Private interment, with military honors, will take place at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Legion Post #306 – Green Lake Building Fund, St. Lucy Catholic Church or to the Stars & Stripes Honor Flight have been suggested.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Primrose Retirement Community for their kind and loving care. Special thanks to John’s neighbor, Dennis, for getting John to and from his meals and for being his friend.

John was a wonderful man. Worked for him at Wisconsin Bell back in the 70’s. He was always very good to me and was an excellent boss to the many employees in Customer Services where he was well liked and respected by all. He was a great guy, and will be missed. Rest in peace, John.
