RACINE – Charles W. Johnson, 69, passed away at Froedtert Hospital on Sunday, February 4, 2018.

A lifelong resident of Racine, he was born on March 7, 1948, the son of the late Kermit William and Irma Catherine (nee: DeBruin) Johnson.  He graduated from Washington Park High School in 1966.  After high school he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served his nation during the Vietnam War.

On June 1, 1974 he married the love of his life, Judith Annette Bean.

Chuck was a master plumber in Wisconsin and Minnesota.  He owned and operated Johnson Plumbing and Piping until his retirement in 2010. He was also a former state president of the Wisconsin Pipefitter’s Union.

Chuck was a man of faith and was a church elder at the Spring Street Church of Christ.  Above all else, he was a loving husband, father and phenomenal grandfather.

In addition to his wife Judith, Chuck is survived by his son, Andrew “Drew” Johnson; his daughter, Rachel (Ryan Shepherd) Johnson; his four grandchildren, Kailey, Logan, Parissa and Asa Charles; his sister, Mary Ann Vite; his brother-in-law, Dr. Craig (Tami) Bean all of Racine; his nieces and nephews, Lauren (Lorenzo) Gonzalez, Kailey (Jonathan) Christiano, Kyle (Lacey) Bean, William Bean and Christopher Johnson; as well as many dear friends and church family at the Lord’s church at Spring Street.  Chuck was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas J. Johnson and brother-in-law, Joseph Vite.

Family and friends are invited to meet at the Spring Street Church location at 6200 Spring Street on Saturday, February 10, 2018 for a visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. A service remembering  his life and sharing the hope of the Gospel will follow at 1:00 p.m.  Military honors will take place at the conclusion of the church service.  Memorials have been suggested to the India Mission Fund – Spring Street Church of Christ.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to the entire staff of the cardiac ICU at Froedtert Hospital for the exceptional attention Charlie received while under their care.
