Hazell Norman was born on June 23, 1937 to the union of Robert Norman & Sarah McGee in Tupelo, MS.  He received his formal education in Redhill, MS.  He also attended Redhill Baptist church.

Hazell, Known to many as “Boho”, “Hay-Maker” “Paw Paw”, “Unc”, ”Uncle Hazel” and “Robert Norman’s only son”, he would often like to say.  He was united in marriage to Earline (nee: Larry) Norman for 49 years until her transition in February of 2012.

Hazell worked many part-time jobs along with 45 years at American Motors/Chrysler Motors, last working in 1996.  In his leisure time, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to music, watching the “ion” channel and sitting on the porch in the summer people watching, with his very good friend, Amos Roscoe, who recently transitioned on.

At age 80, on Monday, February 12, 2018, Hazell departed from this life, at Ascension-All Saints hospital, after a brief illness and stay in the hospital and nursing home.  Hazell was preceded in death by his parents,   Robert Norman and Sarah McGee.  He was the only child born to this union, but he had a host of first cousins that he loved dearly like his own sisters and brother, too numerous to name them all.

Hazell leaves to cherish his wonderful memories, his daughter, Vickie (Ben) Norman-Doss of Racine WI; his Sons, Hayes (Polly) Norman of Nashville, TN, Alvis Norman of LaCresent, MN, and Hayward Norman of St. Paul, MN.  He was also a very influential father-figure to his grandson, Tony Epps Jr. and his great grandsons, Maurice Epps, Marquise Epps and Zy’Mir Epps, all of Racine WI.  He also leaves to cherish in his memories his grandchildren; Nneka Norman-Gordon of Nashville, TN, Sarah (Mike) Norman-Lueckman  of Tampa, FL, Abbrissola (Abbey) Norman-Shull of Louisville, KY, Tira Norman-Moilanen of Onalaska, MN,  Nicole (James) Norman-Elliott of LaCresent, MN and Orlando Doss of Racine WI;  as well as many great-grandchildren.

Hazell also leaves to cherish his memories someone very dear and very special to him, Patricia (Pat) Everette of Racine, WI and  sisters-in-law, Genevia Larry of Okolona, MS, Earline Larry of Racine, WI and Denise Larry-Lampkin of Milwaukee, WI.

Ms. Annie Mae Rosco, from our family to yours, we love you all so much.  Thank you for being the best neighbors anyone could ask for, always looking out for dad, for the many dinners, for going next door to check on him when he did not feel like answering his phone and just for being there.  We love you.

A Celebration of His Life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018, 12:00pm at Greater Grace Temple C.O.G.I.C, 522 North Memorial Dr., Racine, WI.  Visitation will be at the church from 11:00am until the time of service.  Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery.

Testimonials

May 24, 2018

I can’t express my gratitude enough to Mike and the Draeger-Langendorf staff for such great service provided to us, as we made arrangements to lay our brother to rest. You all went above and beyond to make sure we understood every detail there was to know, from the greatest to the smallest. When we walked out of your office, we walked out with peace, knowing that our brother was in good hands. Thank you Mike for adding that special touch to my brother’s service, that’s the kind of stuff that separates you all from the rest. Once again Thank you so much.
