Racine – Charles Harold Kierstyn, age 84, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded with the love of family, on Monday, June 4, 2018.

Charles was born in Racine on February 26, 1934 to the late Michael and Stella (nee: Rosienski) Kierstyn. Chuck attended Mitchell School and graduated from Washington Park High School in 1952. Charlie faithfully served our Country with the United States Air Force. On May 15, 1954 in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, he was united in marriage with Jacqueline L. (nee: Kapellusch) Kierstyn – who affectionately called him “Carl” their entire life together.

With a profound work ethic, Chuck was employed as a carpenter for SC Johnson for over 25 years, retiring in 1992. He was also involved in the tavern business – having participated on both sides of the bar. Catholic by faith, Chuck had been a member of St. Stan’s, St. Casimir’s, St. Edward’s, and most recently, St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Deutscher Männer Verein, Loyal Order of the Moose, 5 O’Clock Club, Wisconsin Sportsman’s Association and served on the Board of Directors for Racine Co-Operative Credit Union. Among his interests, Chuck enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Above all, he loved spending time with his entire family.

Surviving are his loving wife of over 64 years, Jackie; their children, Thomas (Joyce) Kierstyn and Amy (Tim Williams) Kierstyn; granddaughters, Rebecca Hankins and Ashley (Andrew) Brommer; great-grandchildren, Anasta Buscher, Drake Buscher and Logan Brommer; brother-in-law, Brent (Betty) Kapellusch; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Kierstyn, Marilyn Jensen, Vicki Kapellusch, Carol Kapellusch and Charlotte Kapellusch; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Michael L.W. Williams-Hankins; brother, Walter Kierstyn; sister-in-law, Diane (Ed) Hamilton; and brothers-in-law, John Jensen; Michael, Jim and Leonard Kapellusch.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 12:00 noon in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Entombment, with military honors, will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. A reception will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Cancer Society have been suggested.

Special note of thanks to Grace Hospice – especially Keith, Jim, Angela & Angel for the compassionate care and support given in Chuck’s time of need. May God bless all of you!

Testimonials

December 19, 2016

I can’t say enough good things about Michael and his staff. They go above and beyond what is required of a funeral home. He has always met my desires and goes beyond what I ask. He always makes it a little more special. He has blessed me and my family many times and comforted us when we are aching because of our loss. I am always confident that he will do his very best, and he always has.
Thank you Michael and staff. May you all have a Blessed Christmas season and New Year

Julie Weyhrauch
