Service Details

A memorial celebration of James’s life will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018, 3:30pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road.  Visitation will be from 2:00pm until the time of the service.  Interment will take place on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at West Lawn Memorial Park, 9000 Washington Avenue.  Please meet at the gate of the cemetery on Tuesday for the interment.

Racine – James D. Ellis, Jr., 63, passed away on July 9, 2018, at Ascension-All Saints.  He was born in Tennessee on April 27, 1955, son of the late James and Ruth (Née: Penn) Ellis, Sr.

James worked as a warehouse operator in R&S for Johnson Wax for 39 years.

James was a true family man and cherished the time he was able to spend with all of them.  He leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, Edward (Jenny) Devaughn, Michael (Lisa) Ellis, James D. Ellis III, Steven Ellis; grandchildren, Audrianna, Alexis, Brittani, Emily, Madison, Paityn, Piper, Aubrey, Steven, Jr., Alivia; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Vicki Ellis, Barbara Ellis; brothers, Claude Thomas, Roscoe Ellis, Martin (Debra) Ellis, George (Michelle) Thomas; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends too numerous to mention.

James is preceded in death by his son, Shawn Ellis; parents, James and Ruth Ellis; sisters, Eleanor Hines, Betty Thomas; brothers, Vernon Thomas, Sr., and Leamos Ellis.

We want to thank Mike for the kindness and special attention he gave us for our mother. Marcella Conley. He came in the middle of the night himself to pick her up and take her to the funeral home. For the things that had to be taken care of, he told us not to worry; that it would be taken care of by him.
