Service Details
A private Homegoing Service, with full military honors, was held in the chapel at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Brother Sylvester Stokes Sr., 87, completed his earthly ministry here on earth, on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at the Clement J. Zablocki Medical Center-Milwaukee. Brother Stokes was born in Alabama on February 2, 1931, the son of the late Charlie and Molly (nee: Randolph) Stokes Sr.
Brother Stokes served his country with the U. S. Army from January of 1953 until November of 1954. He served his Savior and his church families for over 5o years. In June of 1956, he was united in marriage to Jean Sherrod, she preceded him in death in September of 2008. In August of 2009 he was united in marriage to his present wife, Ruth Tharp Pinnar. His final ministry was at Lakeview Church of Christ here in Racine. He was a friend to everyone he met. Brother Stokes will be deeply missed.
Surviving are his wife Ruth; his children, Sylvester Stokes Jr., of Birmingham, AL, Kristie Stokes, and Stacia (Julius) Okeowo, all of Houston ,TX; brother, Isiah Stokes, in New Jersey; sisters, Mamie Stokes, of Fayetteville, North Caroline, and Mattie Boykin, of Mobile, AL. His nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and friends also survive him.
