Josephine Morris

Mar 8, 1946 – Dec 20, 2018

Service Details

Visitation and viewing will be held at United C.O.G.I.C. 2849 92nd St. Sturtevant, WI on Friday, Dec. 28, 2018 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Celebration service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Curtis Doss officiating. Interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery.

Josephine Morris (nee: Glover) passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018. She was born March 8, 1946 to Edward and Sammie Lee Glover (Webb) in Magnolia, AK.

The family later moved to Muskegon, MI where she attended East Park Elementary and Muskegon Heights High School in Muskegon, MI. It was there she met the love of her life, Turner R. Morris, Sr. They married October 3, 1964 and enjoyed 43 years of marriage before he transitioned to be with the Lord February 21, 2008.

Turner and Josephine relocated to Racine, WI in 1970 where she would become employed at American Motors Corporation in Kenosha, WI until she retired.

Josephine received the Lord as her personal Savior October 10, 1976 at the Rose of Sharon C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of the late Elder Prentiss Robbins Sr. She faithfully served as the President of the Pastor’s Aide Committee, Hospitality President, and Pastor’s Anniversary Committee Chair. Being led by the Holy Spirit she later joined The Morning Star Tabernacle Church where Elder Albert Tenzy was the pastor. Continuing to use her spiritual gifts, Mother Josephine Morris, served in the same leadership roles at Morning Star. Following the leading of her husband they joined United C.O.G.I.C. to serve and assist the late Elder Lewis Doss, Jr. Mother Morris loved the Church of God In Christ and served in many capacities over the years including being a licensed Evangelist Missionary. She especially loved sharing the gospel with neighborhood children and bringing them to church teaching them about the goodness of the Lord.

Anyone that knew Mother Morris knew she absolutely loved football and there was to be no talking when the Green Bay Packers were on. She could be heard cheering for her favorite players Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers on any given Sunday or Monday Night Football. Mother Morris was an avid watcher of the nightly World News and enthusiastically updated family and friends on current events and the latest trends. She also enjoyed baking and was known for her melt in your mouth 7Up pound cakes. She shared these cakes with family, friends, and neighbors at the annual Howe Street Block Party. She loved working alongside her husband barbecuing and feeding countless neighborhood children.

Mother Morris leaves four children to cherish a lifetime of love and memories. Her children, Cynthia Doss, Turner Ray (Lisa) Morris, Jr., Tonya Robinson, and Craig (Tina) Morris will forever hold her dear in their hearts. She was the very proud grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She loved being an aunt to Kelly Scroggins and Kevin Washington and to all of her nieces and nephews who shared terms of endearment for her such as “TT”, “Aunt Josie”, and “Aunt Jo-Jo”. She loved so many and held a special place in her heart for her god-daughters Letha Chatman and Jahnyia Andrews,“son” Pastor Adrian Malone, “brother” Moses Washington and her United C.O.G.I.C. family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Turner Ray Morris, Sr., paternal/maternal grandparents, parents Edward and Sammie Lee Glover, and all of her siblings Betty Jean Washington, Charles Glover, and Edward Glover.

Repast will be held at TBD.

What a beautiful spirited Woman of GOD, I can remember growing up on at 1624 1/2 Howe Street & what a impact Mother made on our block, as well would definitely cook for the block parties. and just in general…But what was LIFE changing she made sure I reverenced GOD & , stayed in the hand clapping & toe tapping Church & that will never be forgotten. To the family & she did an amazing job with raising you all, you all be STRENGTHENED…GOD will definitely so you all through this journey. Much Love – Allen Jr.- 💜
