Racine – Brenda Joyce McMorris, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2019. She was born in Los Angeles, California on April 6, 1963. She cherished life and loved her family dearly. She was the daughter of Nancy Sue (nee: Taylor) and Roosevelt McMorris Sr., both of Racine Wisconsin, whom she loved very much.

Brenda touched countless lives while working as a personal caregiver for many, many years. Brenda enjoyed life, laughing, singing, dancing and listening to her music. She also enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family and friends.

Brenda McMorris was liked and loved by many. One thing about Brenda, who was affectionately called “Bren” by those who knew her; she will always be remembered her for uncensored mouth, because it had NO filter! She could curse you out with no problem and then talk to you the next minute, like nothing ever happened. At the same time, she loved hard and was well loved, no matter what she did or how she did it. Bren was very forgiving. Many people cherished being in her company and could tell many stories of the great times they shared with Bren. If you knew the McMorris Family, then you definitely would’ve known Brenda J. McMorris; she stood out like a sore thumb, hot tempered, high yellow, gorgeous, thick beautiful long hair, a neat freak and a laugh and smile that you’ll never forget.

Brenda leaves to cherish her precious memories, her one and only daughter, Lakesha Shelby; three sons, Bobby Shelby Jr., Demetrius Farr and Vanshay McMorris; twelve grandchildren, Kameisha, J’montae, Bobby II, Bobby III, Rayveon, Laniiya, Cydazia, Leniijha, Martravius, Marzyria, Vanshay Jr. and Vanity; one great-grandchild, Amina; sisters and brothers, Roosevelt Jr. (Janet), Ricky (Joann), Dornice (James), Derrell, Charles ( Yolanda), Ronnie (Teresa), Melody and Vanessa McMorris, all of Racine, WI.  As well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Three special friends, Robin (Coleman) Lawton, Edna Young and Terri Grandy, who will always love and miss her.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt McMorris Sr., and Nancy Sue McMorris; brother, Tony McMorris; sister, Cheryl Renee McMorris and her nephews, Titonaro Laquan Mayfield and Roosevelt McMorris Jr.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019, 11:00am at St. Paul MBC, 1123 Center St., Racine, WI.  Visitation will be in the church from 10:00am until the time of service.

We were neighbors when my daughter Valisa was very young. She and Lisa played together and I do remember her being very outspoken. I was fond of her, but lost track of her by the time she was in her teens. My condolences to the family that she leaves behind.

Testimonials

November 13, 2019

The funeral service was just beautiful and very warming to everyone including my family. All the pictures they did and the employees were just fantastic. This is one funeral home I would highly recommend to anyone that wants to feel comfortable and to be treated like family. I can’t say enough good things because it was just such a warm welcome. Thank you to Mark and Mike. We couldn’t have done it without all of you.
