Enoch Long, Jr., known to many as “Enos”, 81, received the promise of eternal life on December 14, 2019.  He was born in Greensboro, Alabama, on December 9, 1938, son of the late Enoch and Willie Mae (Née: Woods) Long, Sr.

Enoch was a graduate of the Hale County Training School in Greensboro, AL. He was an iron worker for Racine Steel.   He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and horse racing.  Enoch was very social and could always be found at places like the barbershop or the John Bryant Center.  He loved his family tremendously and treasured the time he was able to spend with them.

Enoch leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 42 years, Joyce Long; son, Anthony (Laura) Long; step-sons, Conrese Williams, Christopher (Monique) Williams, Kevin (Alicia) Darby; 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; brother, Robert (Pamela) Long; sisters, Annie (Willie) Smith, Rosie Lee Davis, Bobbie (David) Griggs; mother-in-law, Magnolia Williams; brothers-in-law, Harry Jones, Rondale Williams, Michael Williams, Harrold Williams, Denver Williams; sisters-in-law, Sue Long, Angela (Billie) Gentry; many nieces and nephews that he loved very much; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

In addition to his parents, Enoch is preceded in death by his sisters, Lula Rogers, Eva Mae Jones, Irene Richardson, Ruth Owens, Isabella Benison; brother, Moses Long; and sister-in-law, Judy Williams.

A celebration of Enos’ life and homegoing will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019, 11:00am, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Bishop L.L. Kirby officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service.  Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.

Hi brother! I know you are not physically here with me, but you are still spiritually. I will miss you calling me “baby”, but will cherish all the wonderful memories we have shared together. The last baseball game I saw on television was watched with you when I visited Racine this summer. I will never forget your smile and you holding my hand as you sat next to me. You and Moses were more like father figures to me than brothers. I will always have you in my heart and Joyce will always be my sister. Give Mom, Dad and all my siblings there with you my love.

    Love you forever!

    Your baby sister,
    Bobbie

Sending my deepest condolences to you and your family during your time of bereavement. My father, ( late) Jimmie Lee Ward was a coworker and friend of his. My father didn’t have many friends but he always spoke fondly of Enus.

Testimonials

November 13, 2019

I just can’t get over how beautiful everything was for my mom’s funeral. She had a rough last four weeks but your amazing team totally did her justice! I was pretty confused during that hard time, but Brian, you made sure that all the “I”s were dotted and all the “T”s crossed. For that, I thank you. I also would like to thank the amazing team of makeup artists. My mom looked beautiful.
