Damian Axel Meldgaard says
Dear Dad,
One of the many things you have taught me over the years was how to stay strong while enduring heartbreak. That lesson is being put to the test more than ever in my life, now that you have moved on.
Thank you for doing your best to raise me with the values and standards you have always had for yourself.
Thank you for helping me become someone who understands the difference between right and wrong, and the importance of doing the right thing.
Thank you for teaching me honesty and responsibility.
Thank you for exposing me early on to some of the finer things, from steak tar tar and an old world wine to the proper way to savor a slice of chocolate cake. Even if that last bit had more to do with me eating too much cake.
Thank you for teaching me the appreciation of a peanut butter and butter sandwich with a can of domestic beer or diet squirt.
Thank you for a childhood many people grow up without; full of fishing, travel, good movies, bad movies, quarters for the arcade, a roof over my head and the peace of mind that I was always safe.
Thank you for making a trip to the supermarket something to look forward to.
Thank you for coordinating countless rides with friends and girlfriends back in the day to see that I would have a healthy social life.
Thank you for explaining calmly and rationally why my idea to become a rockstar shouldn’t be the only egg in my basket.
Thank you for surprising me with a guitar and amplifier endorsed by my favorite artist regardless.
Thank you for trading music and shows with me these last few years, being excited when you liked something and funny when you didn’t.
Thank you for supporting me and being endlessly selfless.
Thank you for showing me all there is to live for, and that life is good.
Thank you for helping me understand that it’s not to be taken too seriously, and meant to be enjoyed.
Thank you for the effort you never stopped making to understand me, and to keep a connection with me. At every step you have been there for me. A mentor while I was an awkward kid, and a friend who listened and guided instead of judged while I stumbled into adulthood. I wasn’t always easy to teach. And I still stumble. But I will always have you to look up to when I do. And I can be confident that everything will be ok.
Thank you for that.
I will do my best to share laughter rather than shed tears as we celebrate the long and rich life full of family and love that you have made for yourself.
You will live forever in my heart. I love you so dearly.
I feel that I have so much more to say, but I will talk to you again.
Until then, my friend.

Roechelle and Jeff says
Our deepest thoughts and sympathy our dear friends.
Those we love remain with us
For love itself lives on,
And cherished memories never fade
Because a loved one’s gone.
Those we love can never be
More than a thought apart,
Far as long as there is memory,
They’ll live on in the heart
Leanore, Jaiden, and Kai Morgan says
While we didn’t know him super well, we always knew grandpa Dale cared for us and loved us. We spoke with him regularly, especially in recent years. He was always a delight to have a conversation with because it was never a typical conversation. One I remember well was asking why people don’t live in round houses but some pets do. He had an amazing sense of humor and was very kind and I’m very grateful we got to experience it in person. Despite the distance between us he showed us that he very much did care for us and love us kids. I wish I had known him better but I’ m very grateful for how much I did. We love you grandpa and you will be very missed.

Still missing you lots my friend, if I could just get the phone and call you, like I did so many times back then. Franco and Natalia asked me to tell you they miss you too. Much love and a huge hug from your friends in Costa Rica, April 25 2022.
Carlos Calvo says
Hi Dale, Happy Birthday in Heaven! After my surgery things haven’t gone well, this might be the last time I talk to you online. Please, have a nice cup of coffee ready for me when I get there, can’t wait to see you. Carlos, Costa Rica, June 12 2022.
