Service Details

A celebration of Jon’s life will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service.

Memorial remembrances to Safe Harbor Humane Society, 7811 60th Ave., Kenosha, WI 53142 would be appreciated.

Jon. E. Buckingham, 81, of Kenosha passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Burlington Memorial Hospital.

Jon was born in Milwaukee to the late Kenneth and Esther (nee: McHeel) Buckingham on January 21, 1939. He graduated from Milwaukee Washington High School, where he was a member of the Washington Chapter Order of DeMolay. After high school he attended University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee and Marquette University, where he studied accounting. Jon was also a veteran of the United States Air Force. Jon held various sales positions with trucking companies, ultimately retiring from Hyman Freightways. He spent many years singing with the Men’s Voices Milwaukee Choir. Jon, affectionately known as “Grumpy Gramps”, enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, fine dining, a good manhattan, his dogs, The Packers and gardening. Above all, he loved spending time and socializing with family and friends.

    Dear Michael and Jon’s family,
    I am sending my sincere heartfelt condolences on your loss of Jon. What a wonderful, wonderful person he was. He will always hold a place in my heart. Meet Jon & Michael through my job at a bank, we had so many great conversations, you both were more then just “customers”.
