Service Details

His Homegoing Service will be held in Faith Church of God, 1449 Geneva St., on Saturday, October 3rd, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tyron Patrick officiating. Visitation will be in the church this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.

Memorial Suggestions

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital Research, or to Faith Church of God.

Elder Homer Swift Jr., 86, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at Ascension-all Saints. He was born in Atlanta, GA on August 28, 1934 the son of the late Homer and Ruth (nee: Smith) Swift Sr.

On August 11, 1951, in Atlanta, GA, he was united in marriage to Catherine Mitchell. He had been employed by A.M.C.-Chrysler for over thirty years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Faith Church of God, and the Church Men’s Club. Homer was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Order of the Scottish Rite.

Surviving are his devoted wife; Catherine, their children, Daniel Lee Swift Sr., Frank Louis Swift, Gail Ruth Swift, Sylvia Lucille ( Charles) Adams, and Catherine Cecelia Swift, all of Racine; seven grandchildren, Daniel L. (Tedra) Swift Jr., Kadeem Liggins, Frankie Swift Jr., Chrystal (Marcus) Marshall, Ebony Swift, Shawn Ormond, Tiara (Johnny) Harrell, and Terrance J. Barnes, Jr.; numerous great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson; one brother, Lee swift, of Palm Coast, FL. His nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive him. In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by his daughter, Mildred S. Barnes; grandson, Jason U.W. Barnes; and brother, Clifford Swift

    I didn’t know Homer on a personal basis, but, I did on a business basis….I always truly liked working with him…..a real gentlemen in the way he treated people…and, enjoyed our business relationship whenever the occasion would arise that we made contact.
