Maxwell "Mad Max" Matter

Dec 13, 1994 – Aug 15, 2022

Service Details

His Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, August 26th at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will take place prior to the service at 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service. The celebration of his life will continue on Saturday at North Park, 2826 94th St., in Sturtevant, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Maxwell “Mad Max” Matter, 27, of Sturtevant, passed away unexpectedly, at Froedtert Hospital-Milwaukee on Monday, August 15, 2022. He was born in Racine on December 13, 1994, the son of Douglas S. and Diane M. (nee: Palubicki) Matter.

Max was an artist, a skilled mechanic, and the kindest soul with a heart of gold and the biggest smile. He was like everyone’s little brother and friend. Not only did he enjoy drawing Jeeps more than anything – he truly enjoyed working on them. However he enjoyed helping people even more than that. He would lend a hand anytime someone needed help. He was intelligent, funny, and genuine. He will always be remembered for his humor, his knowledge, and his selflessness.

Surviving are his parents, Diane Matter, of Sturtevant, and Douglas (Jan) Matter, of Las Vegas; two brothers, Sam Matter and Tony (Ashley Zaremba) Matter, all of Sturtevant; sister, Candace Matter, of Racine; niece, Scarlett; two nephews, Romeo and Emmett; and his friend and companion, Cherokee. Max was preceded in death by his sister, Nicole Matter; grandparents, Clarence and Betty Palubicki, Douglas and Ruth Matter; aunt, Donna Hooten, nephew, Nevin, as well as other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The Family of Barbara Bell

Michael,

First, let me start out by saying you were a God sent working with me for many years in preparations for my mom’s Homegoing Celebration December 7, 2024. Even though this was our first time meeting in person, I felt like I already knew you. Michael, you demonstrated professionalism, empathy and, your warmth was surprising for me considering your role as a Funeral Director. Your attention to every detail, patient and support has made this process much easier for my family and me. I trusted you and you helped me find closure in a moment of great sadness, and for that we’re eternally grateful. I appreciate the time and energy you put into ensuring everything ran smoothly considering I reside in a different state. Michael, my mom would have loved you and our family is forever grateful for your unwavering dedication and support during our season of grief. May the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you. (Numbers 6:25)
