Racine, WI – Donald “Donny” Joseph Pfarr, Jr., age 76, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, at Ascension All Saints Hospital on August 31, 2025.

Donny was born to Donald J. Pfarr Sr. and Lois Gene (nee: Anderson) Pfarr in Kenosha, WI on his dad’s birthday, February 22, 1949. He graduated from Tremper High School and furthered his education at University of Wisconsin – Parkside.

Construction was Donny’s life. At age 9, he began shadowing his father at his construction company Lev-Arr Builders. Some years later, Donny proudly owned & operated State Construction Company, Central Contractors and, currently, Pioneer Projects.

On November 5, 1999 at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church in Kenosha, he was united in marriage with Diane D. (nee: Lewis). Donny & Diane are faithful members of First Christian Church in Kenosha, where they were active on the greeters team and Donny the FCC Building Team. Donny had served as a pack leader for the Boy Scouts, mentor at Edward Bain School in Kenosha, Past-President of the Tri-County Contractors Association, board member of Kenosha Achievement Center, and was a member of the Kenosha Recognition Assn. and the 306 Club. Outside of work, Donny was an extreme Milwaukee Brewers and NASCAR fan; had quite the extensive diecast car collection, and was always looked forward to a fine meal & drink – followed by a tasty cigar.

Surviving are his loving wife, Diane Pfarr; children, Jeffrey J. (Jada) Pfarr and Hannah Pfarr; grandchildren, Maya & Sully Pfarr; former wife, Adrienne (nee: Gerth) Pfarr; sisters, Deborah Pharr and Gayle (John) Collins; brother, Scott (Valerie) Pfarr; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Patricia Steele, Bill (Betty) Lewis and Pamela (Jerry) Compton; special cousin & longtime business partner, Kevin (Carole) King; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives, business associates, clients & friends – too numerous to mention all by name.

In addition to his parents, Donny was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffery Pfarr; brothers-in-law, James Steele and Phillip Pharr; and sister-in-law, MaryAnn Lewis.

Donny’s family & church family are organizing & hosting services celebrating Donny’s life at First Christian Church (13022 Wilmot Road Kenosha, WI  53142) on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 5:00 pm with devoted friend, Pastor Brian Henry, officiating.  Visitation will be in First Christian Church on Tuesday, September 9th, from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or to First Christian Church.

A heartfelt note of thanks to 3rd Floor at Ascension Hospital for the compassionate care and support given in Donny’s time of need. May God bless all of you!

Donny’s larger than life impact on this community and world will be felt for generations and carried on in the hearts and actions of the countless people he mentored and helped over the years. I am one of thousands that can say this, but I would not be the man I am today without his support, guidance and love. He will be forever missed, but his influence and presence will never leave any of us. He was a truly great man, and I will always be thankful to have known and worked for him. The world lost a giant. Rest in Peace Donny.

My condolences to the Pfarr family. I’ll always remember Donny for giving me my first job—a tough kindness that helped shape my path, and one I’ll never forget. Working Saturdays at the shop taught me how to plan and prepare for the coming week’s projects, a lesson I still carry with me today.

I also remember Donny and Diane sitting with me the day before my mother passed. His stories and humor eased my anxiety in a way I’ll always be grateful for.

Donny was such a great friend to our whole family, we loved him dearly. Larger than life, he was nothing but kind and generous to everyone he came across – he would give you the shirt off his back if necessary. Donny was a man of Christ, and we are comforted in knowing that he is now in his heavenly home with our Lord and Savior. Rest in peace, Donny, we love you!

Donny was a legend in the construction business. I’m grateful for the opportunity he gave me as a young project manager/estimator to work on many exciting projects in SE WI & NE IL over my 10 years at State Construction. It was a great experience and I was proud to be part of a growing company under Donny’s leadership. He also was very kind to my family and let us use the wonderful cabin his Dad built near Haywood on a semi private lake. It was such a beautiful & peaceful place that we will never forget. May the Good Lord be with Donny on his next journey.

Sorry to hear of Donny‘s death. I had a lot to do with him in his construction business as an electrician. We had a lot of good times.
