Constance Ann Nadiger passed away on September 18,2025. Connie was born on June 15, 1940, the youngest child of Jake and Kleopha Hughes. Her youngest memories were of living on the family farm in Homestead, WI. Her mother passed away when she was eight. She moved a lot when she was younger, living  with her sisters Jane and Gerry for a few years and was eventually sent to live with her Aunt Marge, Sister Marjo, and Uncle Doc in Stratford, WI.  She lived there for a few years and then her sister Charlotte decided she needed to be back home and moved her back to Homestead to live on the family farm.

She lived there with her nephew Ted and niece Linda, and in her words, were more like siblings. Her brother Buck and sister Charlotte took on the parenting duties. She attended several schools through the years but spent her final high school years at Florence High School. She met the love of her life when her sister Charlotte dragged her along on a first date with Cliff. Cliff brought his friend Bill. Charlotte married Cliff and Connie married Bill on August 22, 1959. They eventually moved to Sturtevant in 1961 when Bill started working for AMC and is where they raised their children and grandchildren for 64 years.

Connie was always involved in community. She became a cub scout leader, brownie leader, and several years as a 4H leader. The family attended St. Sebastians Church where she became very involved. She was a Eucharistic minister, sang in the choir, taught CCD, and so many of their outreach programs through the Human Concerns Committee including visiting the ill, community meals, the food pantry, cleaning the rectory, and worked in the library at the Racine County Jail for nearly 25 years through the jail chaplaincy program. Throughout her life her faith kept her centered and focused. While there are several verses about caring for others, Connie’s life’s calling came from Mathew 25; 31-46, “for I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,  I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.” Because of this she welcomed everyone and loved each of them. She would pray the Rosary nightly before bed and if she heard there were people struggling, she would do it twice.

Her door was always open. Many people gathered there and her children and grandchildren always knew no matter what, that was home. She was proud of each and every one of them and would glow speaking of her grandchildren. She was blessed to make it to meet her first great grandchild Ashton Johnathon, and fought very hard for that day. She was diagnosed with cancer in May of 2018 and chose not only to fight but to live. She made several trips too numerous to mention but her favorites were back up north to visit her nieces and nephews. She would always say, they are my kids too. She would make these trips just before her cancer treatments and this provided her with the strength she needed to fight. She was able to make one final trip two weeks before she passed and along with visiting family was able to visit the family farm which brought her happiness.

Connie loved watching sports. A fan of the Packers, Badgers, and Bucks but her love for the Brewers was unprecedented and in 52 years she probably only missed a handful of games. For many years she played Conasta with a group of friends. Connie was very proud of her Irish Heritage and the many stories she shared of her family. She was truly a loving, happy, fun person. Throughout her life she remained close to her siblings and their families. She was heartbroken as each one passed away and knew one day she would get to join the party in heaven they were having without her. The greatest comfort is knowing she will be with her loving husband and best friend Bill, daughter June, her son John, and her mother whom she missed so very much.

Connie will be missed by Jim (Cathy) Nadiger, Jean (Roy) Escamilla, Julie Nadiger, Jill (Tom) Nadiger, and Rae-Ann Bain, Robert (Kim) Olk, her grandchildren Nicole (Jason) Rossman, Tyler (Mya) Nadiger, Garrit Schlenz, Dalanie (Alex) Schlenz, Roy Escamilla Jr. and Marissa MacNeil, and great grandson Ashton Johnathon Nadige. Sister in law Deanna Hughes, and her many  bonus children and grandchildren, and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Bill Nadiger, her son John Nadiger, her daughter June Marie Nadiger, her parents Jake and Kleopha Hughes, her siblings Jane(Joe)Neuens, Charlotte( Cliff) Church, Geraldine (Bill) Pietrantonio, Buck (Karen) Hughes, Punk (Leona),and LloydHughes; Her cancer fighting partner/niece Carol Sue, and her sisters/nieces Linda and Lisa.

A celebration of Connie’s life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, 1:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev.
