
Al-Hajjiah Aminah Sabir, 75, was called home to her reward, from St. Mary’s Medical Center, on Wednesday, January 18, 2006. She was born in Pontotoc, MS, on July 24, 1930, the daughter of the late Booker T. and Amelia (nee: Mullin) Alexander. She was a member of the Racine Islamic Center, and was instrumental in bringing Islam to Racine. She helped organize and establish the Juneteenth Pageant. Mrs. Sabir owned and operated the Southside Snack Shop. She had been employed by the J.I. Case Co. for over 12 years. She loved to cook, read, and sew, but her two greatest loves were faith and her family. Surviving are her children, Sakinah (Syid) Abdullah of Racine, Yvonne (Warren) Jennings of Sturtevant, Belinda Lambouths and Darlene Chambers both of Milwaukee, Rajeeyah (Andre) McWhorter of Racine, Dante Chambers of Los Angeles, CA, Hannibal (Dorothy) Chambers of Las Vegas, NV; 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; her sister Willie Rose Irvin of Racine. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sabir was preceded in death by her husbands Nathaniel Chambers in 1973, and John Sabir in 1996; her son Sherman Chambers, 3 grandchildren; 1 brothers and 3 sister. There will be a Janaazah Prayer held in the funeral home on Saturday, January 21st, at 10:00 a.m.. Relatives and friends can meet with the family from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Prayer. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Jacobsen, Dr. John F. Brennan, and the staff of St. Mary’s Medical Center and the Dialysis Department
