Alice Grace Grudzinski

Jan 22, 1927 – Mar 14, 2014

Kenosha – Alice Grace Grudzinski, 87, formerly of Racine passed away at Manorcare Health Services on Friday, March 14, 2014. She was born on January 22, 1927, daughter of the late Arthur and Anna (nee: Williams) Fox. She had been a Racine resident for most of her life.  She met her future husband while on an outing with the Racine Muni Cycle Club. She was married in 1948 to John Anthony Grudzinski, who preceded her in death in 1993.

Alice graduated from Horlick High and worked for a time at Western Printing, and after her marriage, she oil-colorized portraits for a downtown Racine photo studio. She later worked as a Teacher’s Aide for a number of years at the Giese and Olympia Brown elementary schools within the Racine Unified School District. Alice was a member of the Racine Art Guild, took many classes at Wustum Museum, and enjoyed expressing herself through her watercolor paintings which she displayed yearly at the Racine Starving Artist’s Fair. Alice also enjoyed dancing with her husband as members of the Tanglefoot dance club, playing league golf at Shoops and Ives Grove, and vacationing in Hawaii and Sweden with her husband, John, and all around the U.S. with her good friend, Del Roberts.  Alice was an active and faithful member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and for more than 70 years.  She was her husband’s steadfast caretaker through his many medical trials and tribulations.  “Al” was courageous and even-tempered; a great friend and loving role model for all who knew her, and will be sorely missed.

Alice is survived by her sons, John (Jane) Grudzinski of Kenosha, and Bruce Grudzinski of Brown Deer; grandchildren Lauren (Grudzinski) Bush of Milwaukee, Kevin Rowley, Kim Anderson, and Kristine Rowley, all of Kenosha; 7 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild as well as other relatives and friends.

Complete services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Visitation begins at 3 p.m. followed by her memorial service at 5 p.m. Cemetery services will be private.

When the Grudzinski family moved into the neighborhood I was a young kid. I remember Mrs. Grudzinski as a sweet and patient woman. I give my best wishes to the Grudzinski family with a special note to my grade and high school friend John Grudzinski.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

I just wanted to say thank you for your wonderful attention to every detail you provided our family for my dad’s service. We were touched by the jazz music playing softly in the background. It was a fitting service for my dear Dad.
