Allen Ray Brooks

vet
Oct 10, 1947 – Jan 29, 2010

Allen R. Brooks, 62, died unexpectedly at WFH- All Saints on Friday, January 29, 2010.

A lifelong resident of Racine, he was born on October 10, 1947 to the now late Robert and Jean (nee: Brooks) Shockley.  On September 12, 1992, he married the former Heidi Nissen.

Allen proudly served his country with 2 tours during the Vietnam War as a U.S. Marine.

Allen worked as a truck driver for many years for companies such as James Cape and Sons and most recently, A.W. Oaks and Son.

An avid biker, he was a proud member of the Racine High Riders for over 35 years.  He loved being around and fixing motorcycles.  He also enjoyed fishing and was a cooking enthusiast, often cooking for many benefits around the Racine area.  However, Allen was happiest when in the surroundings of his family and friends.  He was a wonderful husband and father and will be missed.

In addition to the love of his life, Heidi, his survivors include his children, Jason Brooks of Elwood, IN, Lindsay, Andrew and Kristin Brooks all of Racine; brothers, Greg (Kris) Robbins of Waterford, Michael (Dawn) Robbins of Minoqua, WI, Jody Shockley of Racine; sister, Colleen (Patric) Mogden of Racine; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Jo Nissen of Mount Pleasant; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tim (Faye) Cagle of Tempe, AZ, Lance (Karen) Nissen of Mount Pleasant, Heather (Mike) Ortiz of Racine and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.  Allen was also preceded in death by his son, Allen Robert Brooks.

A memorial service celebrating Allen’s life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuelson officiating.  There will be a visitation in the funeral home from 4-7 p.m.  A private interment with military honors will take place in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
