Alvin J. Wilhelmi

RACINE – Mr. Alvin J. Wilhelmi, 79, died at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital on Friday, July 2, 2010. 

   A lifetime resident, he was born in Racine on August 24, 1930 to the late John and Helen (nee: Szewczyk) Wilhelmi.  He graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1947.  Mr. Wilhelmi served his nation with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Conger from 1947 -1951.   On June 26, 1954, he married the former Dorothy O. Beyer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  She preceded him in death on April 5, 1997.

   Mr. Wilhelmi retired from Hi Standard Machining.  He enjoyed bowling, traveling with his wife and spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He was very proud of his family.

   He is survived by his children, Daniel Wilhelmi of Baltimore, MD, Tina O’Donnell of Rocky Mount, NC; grandchildren, Amber Wilhelmi of Rocky Mount, NC, Samantha Wilhelmi and Nicole Wilhelmi both of Silver Spring, MD; his brother, Jeffrey (Kris) Wilhelmi of Madison, WI and sister, Lillian (James) Dougard of Racine; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.  He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Rodgers and Joan Gottfredsen.

   Family and friends are invited to meet with Mr. Wilhelmi’s family on Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. for a public visitation.  There will be a burial service on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at West Lawn Memorial Park.  Please meet at the gate at 12:45 p.m. Memorials have been suggested to the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center or the American Diabetes Association.
