Amy Ruth Burlingame, 49, passed away at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester Massachusetts on February 15, 2020. Amy was home in the weeks prior to her death alongside her parents, daughter, and boyfriend.

She was born in Racine, WI on September 28, 1970, where she was a resident most of her life. She was a graduate of Walden High School, and later earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Carthage College in Kenosha, WI. While in Racine, Amy was a Racine County Employee working in the Child Support Department.

   Amy spent five years living in Pearland, Texas with her husband and daughter. She enjoyed antiquing, sightseeing, and creating altered art. Amy continued to work as a social worker, working closely with children and their families. She was also an advocate for child abuse prevention.

In 2008, Amy and her family moved to Marlboro, Massachusetts. Amy was employed with the Department of Children and Families where she made many friends and impacted the lives of many children. She fell in love with Maine and New England culture and enjoyed traveling, hiking, and most of all, the beach. Her favorite spots were Bar Harbor, Nuble Lighthouse, and Ogunquit, Maine. She earned a Master’s Degree in Human Resources from Framingham State University in 2016.

No matter where Amy lived, she made friends easily, was always smiling, and was very independent. She loved all things Disney, collected teddy bears, made art and was an avid reader. When she wasn’t immersed in her hobbies, she was constantly thinking and doing thoughtful things for others.

   Amy was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer) in 2017 and fought fearlessly until the day she died. “Never say die” was a motto she had and she was positive and an advocate with her illness throughout the entire journey. She quickly became involved with The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation and Relay for Life.

   Amy leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Karen and Paul Burlingame; her daughter, Mallory Burlingame (Jared Nemath); boyfriend (“Her Person”), James “T” Thibeault; sisters, Sarah (Timothy) Pollitt, Kelly (Kevin) Cress; nieces and nephews, Elise Chase, Justin Lorenzo, Helena Lorenzo, Kyler Pollitt; great niece, Macy Huff; family friend, Kiefer Baker; and so many close friends and colleges. Amy was preceded in death by her husband and friend, Taeha An; great niece Abriella Griffith; grandparents, Harry and Ruth Burlingame, Emil and May Shimel.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Sunday, March 1, 2020 for a visitation from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. A service remembering and celebrating her life will follow at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Amy’s name to The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation would be deeply appreciated.
