MOUNT PLEASANT – Angela “Angie” (nee: Aschikarian) Valente, age 81, passed away at Parkview Gardens Senior Living on Sunday, October 12, 2025 following a brave journey with dementia.

Born Inge Aschikarian in Lorrach, Germany on August 25, 1944 to the late Charles and Irma (nee: Wagner) Aschikarian. Her parents came to the United States to prepare for a new way of life in 1951. Six months after they arrived, they sent for their beloved Angie, who flew alone from Europe, to join her parents at the young age of 6 ½ years old.

Angela attended Horlick High School. . On March 3, 1962, Angie was united in marriage with the love of her life, Frank James Valente, Sr. Her main focus in life was caring for her family….they were her everything. She also assisted Frank with his business, Frank’s Towing, for many years and volunteered caring for patients at St. Luke’s Hospital.

In her younger years, Angie was quite the tennis player. Angie was a wonderful cook and enjoyed hosting many family celebrations and holidays. Angie and Frank enjoyed playing Bingo, traveling and daily drives past the Wind Point Lighthouse.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Frank Sr.; their children, Frank Valente Jr., Peter Valente, Victoria Valente and Kory (Becke) Valente; her adored granddaughters (of whom called her Grandma Toy Box), Julie (Michael Turner) Anchondo, Stephanie (Nick) Sexauer and Cristina (Dan) Gilliam; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Bradley, Ramiro, Cierra, MacKenzie and Skylar; great-great-grandchildren, Timothy, Memphis & Remi; sisters-in-law, Sherry King and Patricia (Harry) Lofquist; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Angie was preceded in death by her father-in law Alfred Valente and mother in-law Francis Valente.

Services celebrating Angie’s life will be held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 – 2:00pm. Private interment will take place on Monday in Graceland Cemetery.

A heartfelt note of thanks to the wonderful staff at Parkview Gardens, especially nurse Leslie and assistant Maria, for caring for Angie like she was part of their own family. Your kindness and true compassion will always be remembered.
