Anna Marie Kerkowski, 99, received the promise of eternal life on May 28, 2020.  She was born in Chicago on January 31, 1921, daughter of the late Anton and Mary (Née: Tafra) Kovacevich, Sr.

Anna was married to the love of her life, Edward Frank Kerkowski, on September 11, 1943.  Edward preceded her in death on November 29, 1992.

Anna was employed by Skill Saw in Chicago until her retirement in 1986.  She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sturtevant. Anna enjoyed bowling, bingo, cards, and trying her luck on the slot machines.

Anna leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Wayne (Victoria) Kerkowski, Sr.; granddaughter, Melissa (Randy) Jansen; grandson, Wayne Kerkowski, Jr.; great-granddaughter, Amanda (Derek) Quella; great-great-granddaughter, Hannah Grace Quella; brother, Anton “Tony” (Patricia) Kovacevich, Jr.; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

In addition to her husband, Anna is preceded in death by her son, Dennis Kerkowski; brothers, John (Eve) Kovacevich, Emil Kovacevich, Joseph Kovacevich I,  Joseph (Dia) Kovacevich II; sisters, Matilda “Toots” (Edmond) Roche, Genevieve (Papie) Benson, and Diana Kovacevich.

A celebration of Anna’s life will be held on Monday, June 8, 2020, 11:00am, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Ronald Gramza officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service.  Burial will follow at Old Holy Cross Cemetery in Racine.

The family would like to extend a heart-felt “Thank You” to the staff at New Vision Adult Family Home, especially Dave, Erica, and Tracy, for the love and care given to Anna over the past few years.

God looked around his garden. And he found an empty place, He then looked down upon the earth, and saw her tired face, He put his arms around her and lifted her to rest, Gods garden must be beautiful , he only takes the best!

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Mike and the staff went above and beyond during our very difficult time with passing of our Opa. Mike helped relieve the immense stress by being extremely professional, paying attention to the smallest details and the overall kindness and compassion in caring for our family at our time of need. We do not believe that a thank you truly covers our deep gratitude towards you. Thank you for everything you have done for us.
