Service Details
A celebration of Archie’s life and homegoing will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, 11:00 am, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby, Sr. officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Archie Alfred Gandy died peacefully at Ascension Living-Lakeshore at Siena Nursing Home in Racine, Wisconsin on September 20, 2025 at the age of 88. He was born on January 23, 1937 in Shucktown, Mississippi to Aubrey and Louise (Williams) Gandy. Archie was the 4th of 7 children. He often shared with his family fond memories of his childhood growing up among extended family. From a very young age until his death, family was essential to Archie’s very being.
Archie was an avid reader which he attributed to many of his grade schoolteachers. He inspired and motivated others professionally and personally throughout his 30-year career in the United States Air Force, followed by 15 years in the United States Civil Service. Archie received numerous awards, certifications, degrees, and accolades throughout his life and career. He was recognized and respected as exemplary by the men and women above and below his rank as Senior Master Sergeant in the USAF, along with many others who came to know him throughout his lifetime. As the patriarch of the Gandy-Williams family, he provided guidance and wisdom along with inspiration and motivation to succeeding generations with the emphasis on education and personal integrity.
Archie also was an entrepreneur in the marketing field and has spoken publicly on the virtues and profitability of investing in oneself and others. His passion for baseball was only surpassed by that of football. He was an ardent fan of the Oakland Raiders, Oakland Athletics, San Francisco 49ers, Milwaukee Bucks, Brewers, and Green Bay Packers.
Archie is deeply mourned by his devoted wife, Nerissa (Doyle) Gandy; his Children: Jeffrey Gandy (Brandy) of Racine WI; Kevin Gandy of San Antonio, TX; Michele Gandy of San Raphael, CA; Kurt Gandy (Charmaine) of Fairfield, CA; Karl Gandy (Tyra) of Vacaville, CA; Michelle Frame (Randy) of Carmichael, CA; Grandchildren: Brian L. Edwards, Kabon Gandy, A. Keith Gandy, Jr., Michele Mewborn, Ebony Bashir, Brittany Gandy, Rayven Gandy, Kendan Gandy, Kurt Gandy, Jr., Kayla Gandy, Kyle Gandy, Kamryn Gandy, Tiara Kinnison, Rayvn Ingram, Jaelynn Frame; Beloved Sister Florence (Gandy) Barker; sisters-in-law Hilda Gandy and Gerri Boyd. Also left to cherish lasting memories of Archie are his great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins, cherished in-laws and friends, all of which were very dear to his heart. Nerissa extends deep gratitude to devoted niece, Danielle Saddler.
Archie was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Elaine Lorriane Hudson-Gandy, son Keith Gandy, grandson DeMichael Gandy, siblings: Aubrey Jr. Gandy, Matilda Gandy-Coleman, Dennis Gandy, Rose Lee Gandy-Laws, Handy Gandy (a/k/a Bryan), Robert Ervin Bryant and Iradean Jake Harwell; daughter-in-law, Margaret Gandy; fathers-in-law Carl Hudson and Joshua Doyley; sisters-in-law Andrée Yelder-Gandy, Rochelle Hudson-Fashaw, Carol Hudson-Burns, Nadine Brooks; brothers-in-law Allen Boyd, Owen A. Wilson, and Quincy C. Barker.
