Ardie Mae Willis

Oct 24, 1915 – May 16, 2016

Racine – Ardie Mae Willis (nee: Harris), age 100, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016. Ardie was born in Hope Hull, Alabama on October 24, 1915 to the late Robert and Velma (nee: Supples) Harris. She was united in marriage to Mr. Rulelver Willis on April 3, in 1939.  Rulelver moved to Racine in January, 1945 for employment, and several months later Ardie and the oldest three children followed.

Ardie devoted her life to caring for her husband and children;  she was an excellent homemaker who enjoyed cooking, canning fruits and vegetables, sewing, and crafts.  When Ardie worked outside of the home she did domestic work, and she also  worked as a cook.  Cooking was Ardie’s passion, and you could tell when you had the privilege of eating her cooking, because everything she cooked was delicious.  Ardie’s faith and love for her church were also important in her life. She was an active and faithful member of The Israel of God’s Church for over 50 years.

Ardie Mae leaves to cherish her memory her children: Edward (and Dianne) Willis, Tyronne Wilis, and Bonnye Collins; grandchildren: Kathy, Tevis, Shirletta, Curtis, Damon, Carey, Anthony Paul, Cyle, Roseanne, and Shirley; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.  She is further survived by her siblings: Missouri Milton, Olene Nelson, Carrie Parker, and Verlin Harris; as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rulelver Willis in 1972; sons Robert Willis, Rulelver Willis, Jr. and daughter-in-law, ( Anne) Willis Jr. and Timothy Willis, and daughter-in-law Flora Willis; grandchildren, Jason Willis, Brenda Lee, Latasha Collins; and her siblings, Frankie Stovall, Robert Harris, Mabell Moore, Ned Harris, Vernell Harris, Walter Harris, Novella Smith, Joe Harris, and three infant siblings.

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at The Israel of God’s Church, 2017 Mead Street beginning with a visitation from 9am to 11am, immediately followed by her homegoing service with Rev. George B. Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.

I would like to express my condolences to you for the loss of your dear loved one, Ms. Ardie Willis. The death of a loved one can be devastating, even when we feel they lived a long and fulfilling life. But God’s Word, the Bible, teaches us that those who have died will be resurrected back to life, right here on earth. Isn’t that such a comfort to know that you will have the opportunity to see Ms. Willis alive again and with vigor as in her youth. Once again, I express my deepest sympathy.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Mike,
Words cannot adequately convey our gratitude for all you did to honor our family member and friend, Mert Fleury. Like with her husband Ray, years ago, you and your staff went above and beyond to help us through this difficult time and to give Mert a wonderful celebration of her life. Every detail was considered, all of our requests were given unfailing attention, and the little extras took our breath away. Every sad feeling and every tear was matched two-fold with feelings of gratitude and comfort because of what you did. We will be forever grateful!
The Fleury Family

David Fleury
