Arlene J. Oettinger

Sep 29, 1944 – May 20, 2008

Arlene J. Oettinger, 63, died in the Wheaton Franciscan Hospital-All Saints on Tuesday, May 20, 2008. Arlene was born in Seward, NE the daughter of the late Clyde and Ruby (nee: Batchelder) Jensen. Arlene was a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University at Lincoln, NE. After coming to Racine she taught at St. Rita’s and Wind Point Schools. She was a former member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Her whole life revolved around family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Surviving are her daughters, Jessica (Anthony Schroeder) Hillman, Abigail (Wayne) Boyle and Jolene (Timothy) Dustman all of Racine; 8 grandchildren Samantha, Savannah, Amber, Ashley, Carter, Hannah, Rachel and Allyson; brothers and sisters, John (Marie) Jensen of Goehner, NE, twin sister Kathryn Stewart of Scottsdale, AZ, Susan (David) Holland of Lincoln, NE and James (Jayne) Jensen of Goehner, NE; and her longtime friend Shirley Carle of Racine. Arlene’s nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive her. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her former husband John Oettinger. Her Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, May 23rd at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Jeffrey M. Thielen officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 12 o’clock Noon until the time of the Service. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy 32. The family has suggested memorials to the Racine County Foster Care College Scholarship Fund, 1717 Taylor Ave, Racine, WI 53403 Attn: Kerry Milkie.

    Arlene, what stands out the most for me are the shared carefree activities of youth. Playing board games and croquet at your house and going swimming at mine. And what about all those wonderful holiday gatherings…the food and even the cleaning up in the kitchen! I love you. God bless you!
