Bertha Lee Johnson, 67, Passed away at WFH – All Saints hospital on Sunday, July 31, 2008. She was born in Mississippi on January 13, 1941, daughter of Booker T. and Evelyn (nee: Flemmings) Simmons. Most of her life she had lived in Racine. Bertha was an active and faithful member of Second Missionary Baptist Church. She will always be remembered for the care and concern for the needs of others, often placing those needs above her own. She was a truly beautiful person, and was a great inspiration to her family. Bertha retired from AMC-Chrysler, and often enjoyed fishing from near the Horlick Dam to the Lakefront. She is survived by her 3 children, Brenda Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, Kenneth Johnson, and Jacqueline (Joey McLain) Hibbler both of Racine; grandchildren, Nicole Adams of Milwaukee, Darryl Hibbler and Jameese Hibbler both of Racine; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Wardie Person of Racine, Mary Bobo of Peoria, Illinois, Curtis Simmons, and John Turner both of Ripon, Gregory Simmons, and Carolyn Simmons both of Racine; her former husbands, R.L. Peterson of East St. Louis, Illinois, and James H. Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida; special nieces and nephews, Barbara, Annie, Willie James, and Ricky Person all of Racine; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded by her parents, Booker T. and Evelyn Simmons; her brother, Hayward Howard; and sister, Helen Wilson. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and private services will be held. Our heartfelt thanks and gratitude goes out to the entire staff at WFH-All Saints Hospital, 2D for their compassion, skill, and professionalism in the way you cared for our loved one; and to all the residents of Lincoln School Historic Apartments for their and support.

Mike Langendorf, my parents told me of your kindness, generosity, and servitude when we lost my brother. They needed that strength and your light came through. Thank you! Anne T.
