
Racine- Borgne Marie (Olsen) Eckblad, 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded with the love of family and friends singing hymns, at Harmony Commons, on Saturday, March 24, 2007, following a courageous struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. Borgne was born on March 22, 1917 in Skein, Norway to the late Anne (Landvik) and Trygve Olsen. On May 24, 1941, at Bethesda Evangelical Lutheran Church, she was married to Benjamin L. Eckblad, who preceded her in death on December 2, 2005. Borgne graduated from Wm. Horlick High School in 1935. She was then employed by Walker Mfg. for several years. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church and Racine Bible Church where she helped with Sunday school and Pioneer Girls. She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She also attended and served at Willerup Bible Camp in Cambridge, WI. Among her interests, she enjoyed needlework, knitting and crocheting. Borgne treasured time spent with her family and her presence at family functions will be truly missed. Surviving are her children, Tim (Cyndy) Eckblad, and Sharon Tradewell, of Racine, her grandchildren, Brian (Amy) Eckblad, of Grand Blanc, MI, Andrew (Rebecca) Eckblad, of Madison, WI, Chris (Christine) Eckblad of Wauwatosa, WI, Matthew (Jennifer) Tradewell of LaCrosse, WI. and Kaye Tradewell of Racine. Great-grandchildren, Zachary, Rachel and Rebecca Eckblad, Marley, Zoe and Edie Eckblad, and Grace Tradewell, sister, Edith Gagnon, sister-in-law, Edith Eckblad, brother-in-law, Wesley (Margaret) Eckblad, and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law Mildred (Dan) Elstrom and granddaughter Jaclyn Sue Eckblad. Memorial services celebrating Borgne’s life will be held on Friday, March 30, 2007, at 12 noon at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home with visitation preceding from 11 a.m. until the time of the service with Rev. John Meisel officiating. Interment will follow the service at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lake Ripley Institute, Parkinson’s Foundation or WorldVenture, to benefit Connie Jarlsberg, missionary, have been suggested by the family. Borgne’s family sends a special note of thanks to the entire staff at Harmony Commons for their compassionate care.
