Racine, WI – Calvella Maria Shelby was born on August 21, 1967 to the union of Curtis Lee and Ruby Lee (nee: Shelby) Jones Sr., in Murphysboro, Illinois. She accepted Christ as her Savior at the tender age of one and was united with The Baptist Church of Murphysboro, IL. She later relocated to Racine, Wisconsin where she became a member of New Omega Baptist Church. She was a proud graduate of William Horlick High School in Racine, WI.
Calvella was employed as a Behavioral Health Specialist for TLS Living Services for five years until the time of her injury. She loved music, singing, shopping, cooking, sipping on her coffee, watching her court shows, getting her hair and nails done and just being the true diva that she was. Calvella loved surrounding herself with love and joy from her kids, grandkids, and family. She had the biggest heart, always providing a helping hand to others in their time of need. Calvella always kept a smile on her face and that is why her favorite color is yellow. She had an even bigger personality; she was always cracking jokes and telling stories so there were always plenty of laughs whenever she was around.
Calvella Marie Shelby, age 53, departed this life surrounded by her family at 9:24pm on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Froedtert South – St. Catherine’s Medical Center in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by father Curtis Lee Jones; maternal grandparents Elbert and Lizzie Mae Cain; paternal grandmother Sonny Mae Jones; aunts Ivory, Pecola and Johnnie Mae; uncles Ronald and Jimmie; three special people that were near and dear to her heart Emma, Tony and Brenda.
Cavella leaves to cherish her memory, her four children Andrea (Christopher), Deonta, Uolanda (Antoine) and Crystal (Donald); one special daughter Veroncina; grandchildren Arnadion, Dalisia, Jeontae, Ni’Riyha, Anaya, Brandon Jr, Kayndon, Mianna, Andrea and Bryana; great-grandson King; eight brothers Louis (Renee), Bobby Sr.(Catrina), Curtis Jr, Keith, Corey, Lance and Calvin; sisters, Diane (Robert), Jacqueline, Crystal, Alesia, Matasha, Angel and Lawanda; her best friend Vanessa McNeil and longtime special friend Andra Snow, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.
